My name is Janusz Michalew, I am a historian by profession and for the last year and a half I have been working on a website about the monuments of medieval and antiquity. It is available online at
The aim of is to popularize monuments and buildings from the old periods through descriptions, photos, plans and reconstructions. Unlike other portals, I deal not only with castles but also with churches, monasteries, secular buildings, bridges... in one word, all kinds of medieval monuments that have survived to our times. Currently, the site contains about 2000 monuments from Poland, Slovakia, Latvia, Estonia and Wales. Everyone is described, with photos, most have plans, old engravings, reconstructions. I also added a dictionary of architectural concepts to which all passwords from sites with monuments will be linked in the future. I think that the site will also help people planning holidays and trips. All monuments are placed on the google map, so finding places to visit is not a problem. At the articles, I also try to give practical information, for example whether it is possible to visit, in which state the monument has survived, etc.

Thanks to your patronage, the website will be able to develop, which means more countries with their architectural heritage as well as supplementing and updating existing ones on the site, as well as adding new photographs, plans and reconstructions. First, I plan to add monuments from the Czech Republic or Hungary (after appearing the site had monuments from Poland and Slovakia, during the last six months I added Estonia, Latvia and Wales). I have very ambitious plans, I would like to be the largest portal of medieval architecture, a kind of encyclopedia of the heritage of the Middle Ages :). I would also like to develop functionality on the website, it would be possible by buying a few paid wordpress plugins and most importantly, to hire a professional translator.

Extend the service of for another year.
Unfortunately, what is free for all internet users, from the author requires fixed fees. $ 130 is the approximate amount I will have to pay for the domain and fast servers on which the website operates. The current ones are paid up to October this year, which will then I prefer not to think. However, thanks to you my sleepless nights (I worked mainly after dark) will not go to waste and the service will still be alive. Take part in creating the world's largest compendium of medieval architecture !!!
