I am Billy Longino. I write. I draw.
But when I can't, I stare with all appropriate listlessness into the abyss (and it, characteristically, ignores me).

Now, you can help!

This Patreon exists solely to support the creation of humorous, but always 100% playable, material for tabletop RPGs, including adventure and setting material, hand-drawn maps, and custom character sheets. You may recognize my dungeon cartography from The Dark of Hot Springs Island (Swordfish Islands) by Jacob Hurst, which won gold at the 2018 ENnie Awards for Best Adventure.

Loads of free stuff can be found on my blog MegaDungeon

Your monetary support (should you choose to give it) will go towards the production of original old-school maps free for personal, non-commercial use and the completion of three projects: Southfarthing Confidential, a halfling police procedural campaign setting for 5th edition of The World's Most Popular Roleplaying GameTM; Dwarf Lode, an all-dwarf Old School-style RPG; and Spear! Fang! Raygun!, a campaign setting for use with Dungeon Crawl Classics inspired by Hanna-Barbara cartoons of the late 1960s.

HOW IT ALL WORKS:
What you are charged for: Your support pays for a map or chapter from one of the projects below.
Frequency of content: I release a map twice a week, usually on Wednesday and Sunday, but this may vary. Every once in a while, when a chapter is completed, it will replace one of these maps for the week.

My goal is for everything you help create to be immediately of use to patrons, so I will only post full maps that are ready to use or complete chapters from one of the books.

(If you're interested in using a map for commercial purposes or in commissioning an original work, please contact me directly by email: [email protected].)

Current RPG Projects

Southfarthing Confidential is a setting for the fifth edition of the World’s Most Popular Roleplaying GameTM. In Southfarthing Confidential, players take on the roles of halfling sheriffs within the Five Farthings one year after the prohibition of pipe-weed.* The setting is designed as a “genre mash-up” between a satirical Tolkienesque fantasy and hardboiled detective stories of the 1930s and ‘40s, such as those by Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett, or televised police procedurals like Dragnet or Hill Street Blues.

Due to the quaint, street-level spirit of Southfarthing Confidential, this book is written for the “local heroes” tier of play (levels 1-4), though the stories that emerge from play could easily expand the setting into the “heroes of the realm” tier. I suggest that GMs limit PC access to spellcasting classes, as the use of magic should remain rare and distrusted within the Five Farthings, to be reserved for meddling wizards, elves, and them rangers. No self-respecting halfling would touch the stuff!

In this book, you’ll find everything you need to set the game afoot within a halfling-based police procedural campaign, such as the Hairfoot Halfling subrace, genealogical backgrounds for Hairfeet of the Five Farthings, the inner workings of halfling police forces, an overview of the Southfarthing along with a dive into the village of Curdlebrook and its environs, a rundown of halfling and dwarven organized crime, a few monsters native to the Curdlebrook countryside, a glossary of Southfarthing slang, a random crime generator, and pregenerated PCs/NPCs.

So, put down the pipe-weed and pin on your badge. You’ve got a job to do.

Unlike more traditional fantasy roleplaying game settings, which derive their influence from the sword and sorcery-heavy “Appendix N,” Spear! Fang! Raygun! is being developed upon the premise of an alternate universe “Appendix N” that contains works such as the Silver Age comics of Jack Kirby; Hanna-Barbera cartoons of the late 1960s (Space Ghost, The Herculoids, Mighty Mightor, etc.); campy space operas, including the original Star Trek series and Flash Gordon comics and serial; and standards of an ‘80s childhood like He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and practically anything with dinosaurs; among others. Despite this conceit, however, Spear! Fang! Raygun! remains true to the “old school” style of adventure games.

In the fashion of standard DCC RPG campaigns, characters in Spear! Fang! Raygun! muster undergo and survive the mortal sieve of a zero-level funnel before they are able to become Gloryseekers! and receive their binding to their patron (unless they’ve said “To Hell with You!” and go it alone). During the funnel, all characters will be humans from the savage, pantless tribes of Atlanteans, but over the course of their adventures, they will encounter new Species and even travellers from parallel universes who may join the ranks of the Player Characters.

Characters will adventure across the Forlorn Plateau on the desert planet of Urd and beyond to trek the hyperspace tendrils through the Null Zone into parallel universes or to traverse the vacuum of space to explore the dozens of alien worlds that orbit the Four Wanderers, stellar bodies which in turn revolve around Urd’s own planet-rich star.

Dwarf Lode is a game of beards, beer, drunken exploration, ancestral guilt, kingdom (re)building, and engineering disasters. More info coming soon!
