UNDAM THE RIVER

Update:
This is going to be more than just a podcast. It's gonna be art and mental health stuff mixed together or separate. So it's a pod one week, a painting another, a beat or a poem the next... I'm trying out different things and seeing what sticks. That being said, any help I get from you through Patreon is huge. This is not a traditional job. I don't get paid by anyone. But I think this crossover between expression and mental health is important. So if you think this is important too, I would love your help.

Original post: Hi Patreon people! My name is Damian Oleksiuk, and I'm the host of Undam The River :: a mental health podcast where I have casual, interesting, funny, serious, manic, depressed, lonely, cathartic ... all sorts of conversations with friends and people I meet who struggle or have struggled with mental health issues. I personally have been diagnosed with cyclothymia (aka agitated, chronic bipolar), been in the mental hospital, been on and off meds, and along the way have also made a lot of awesome friends who've struggled with similar stuff. So me and these rad peeps will be talking about mental hospital visits, daily conflict, unfixable feelings, uplifting moments, suicide attempts, work, dating, friendships, and in general what the day to day life is like as a mental health effected-in-some-way person. Some people like to use normalize. But this word sort of depreciates the unfortunate uniqueness of having a mental health issue. It's not "normal" to have bipolar or bedridden depression, but hopefully it's treatable, and the more we dig in, the closer we can get to solid care.

So here's where you come in. Patreon is how I get paid to do this. I'm creating this out of nada, without a traditional salary. So if you love what I'm doing or find some value in talking about the taboo undercarraige of mental health, I'd love your support. The more money I make here, the more intimate conversations I can have and the bigger and more complex the projects can get without my incessant thoughts of "where in the devil's dick is my next paycheck coming from?"

So let's make it so that we and the generations of nutjobs after us can have an equal shot at a good life without the *stigma* of feeling like shit. Because it's ok to feel like shit here.

Thanks for listening!

$0 of $500 per month
At $500/month, I'll start a mental mailbag (the mentalbag!) where I'll take listener questions and ask them to my guests. These questions can be directed towards me or the guest or why not both.
