life can take you on some very interesting pathways. Some take you on a journey through lush fields, over mountains with sweeping vistas. Others can take you into places, well, where you probably would not prefer to be. And then there are those pathways that kind of force you into a situation in which you need to learn and grow. At this moment, life is presenting me with this.
For many years, I used to be up to date with trends in the tech, video game production, and my artwork has always gone through a constant metamorphosis. This is a wonderful thing because it kept me at the edge of my seat and my mind sharp. I love it.. great!

When I became a university instructor, I thought I would have the time and energy to always be challenged. to always update my skills. I was rather surprised that after a few years, I was not learning anything new. how did this come to be? how was I spending my time? Every semester, I was repeating the same lessons over and over again. To be honest, I felt like Walter White from the tv show "Breaking Bad." As some of you know, Walter was a genius chemist who somehow felt safer teaching the basic fundamentals on to the deaf ears of high school students. He began to wake up that despite the job security, there was something missing in life. It was his creativity!
Since I started teaching, I have been not giving my own creativity enough attention. Does this mean that my job is not longer fulfilling? well, this is far from the truth! Every day I teach about 100 University students that come from all of the world. The opportunity alone is invigorating and keeps me on my toes. But my own personal creativity became the fodder in this situation and in regards to that creativity/experience combination... it became stagnant water.

But now life has pushed me in this direction. I have incentive to join Patreon and spend the extra time to produce art work. I have incentive to return to a passion, but this time, share it with those who want to learn.

As with all things new, it is important to start with small steps. For now I will be seeking 100 subscribers. In that time, folks will be able to download finished textures, and full photoshop files so that they can pick apart my work and use it for their own ingenuity.

Once I pass that modest goal, then I will be able to do more complex things such as live teaching sessions on twitch or discord. Produce more complex lessons with environment modeling which could include lessons with composition, story telling, and level design. On a more technical side, perhaps lessons on LODs, polygon density, and so on.

But lets start with small, short steps.

Tiers
a cup of coffee for my skills
$2 or more per creation
A good cup of coffee in the Bay Area is about $2.  If you pledge to buy me some coffee.  you will have full access to all finished textures  (in PNG or TGA format) the I create when I produce videos, twitch broadcasts or discord sessions.
A pint of beer for my skills
$5 or more per creation
After a long day, I tend to wind it down with a beer or two, and in the process of getting tipsy, I get a bit generous.  If you pledge $5, you will have full access to all Photoshop files that I produce associated with the perks of tier 1.

This will allow you to pick apart my process, adapt it to your own and hopefully be more inspired to try different processes.
Goals
5 of 100 patrons
Despite being seasoned with game development and teaching, I am still relatively new to crowd sourcing.  As with all new things, start with baby steps.  For my first goal, I hope to achieve 100 patrons.  Once that is achieved, I will have the bandwidth to not only provide more intricate content, but be inspired to push this new leaf on life forward... well, because of  the attention from my audience.
