About Massachusetts Historical Swordsmanship

Whether you're a long-time historical fencer, or have never taken a class before, our video series will help you build skill with sword in a safe, progressive, and fun way. Building on Dr. Mondschein's books The Art of the Rapier and The Art of the Two-Handed Sword, we use a novel method of distance pedagogy to show you, step-by-step, how to develop the movement and tactical skills you will need to make the words of the ancient masters come to life.

Ken Mondschein (PhD, Fordham University; Maître d'Escrime Historique, USFCA; M.Ed. candidate, UMass-Amherst) brings not only his decade and a half of experience teaching historical fencing to this project, but also his passion for history and knowledge of how people learn physical skills.

Please note that most of the exercises in these videos require a partner. Subscriptions to the whole series are one low price of $10 per person month; it is also recommended that you purchase Dr. Mondschein's books. Live feedback through Zoom is also available; please see our website for details.
