Who Am I?

I'm an author.

"But wait? You don't have any books out!"

Correction: I had a book out.  I just pulled it off the self-published list so I can rewrite, re-title, and do it the "right" way this time.

Regardless, I'm someone who writes stories.  Stories about characters who feel real.  Who are flawed.  Who ache to be better than they are, but end up being who they need to be rather than who they think they should be.  I write stories that dig into mental illness and make it a real part of the person.  It occurred to me a long while ago that the most interesting characters, characters who drop everything and push through challenges and loss that would break most people, probably classify as mentally ill.

So why reserve those written words for the Epilogues and Literary Fiction?  I'll do it now, thanks.

Beyond this drive to layer real mental illness in storytelling from a place of experience, I'm a pet owner, a farmhand (on my own non-functioning farm), an ex-IT guy, and a husband.

I'm also a sarcastic, foul-mouthed git who likes to jump on soapboxes when he thinks no one is looking.

Good lord.  Okay.  I'll take it.  I'm not too proud.

Up to once a week we'll have a Slack/Skype/FaceTime call to talk about progress, challenges, or pretty much anything you want to talk about.

Also, I'll write you a short story based on an idea we come up with together.  If we try to publish it, you'll get a co-author credit.  No promises on how long this will take though... but it'll get done.

After all, you're my main patron.

To be blunt, this keeps me writing more often than not, at least for the summer.  I get to keep a part-time job that doesn't require off-hours thought or concentration so I can put my creativity toward writing for you folks.
