About Mid-Century Menu

Be part of a movement to return vintage recipes to the dinner table!

Ruth is a writer and culinary historian who curates the blog, MidCenturyMenu.com, where she and her husband recreate mid-century food much to the delight and horror of her readers. Over the last 10 years, she has enjoyed finding and sharing amazing, shocking and delicious vintage recipes with her readers, like Quick Apple Cider Vinegar RollsNo-Fry DoughnutsPotato Salad Roll, and Rice Krispies Date Pudding.

Now she wants to take that one step further, and work with her readers and fans to make more vintage recipes available for free to the public, and to give people the education and confidence they need to learn vintage cooking techniques and principles to enrich their everyday meal preparation and make them smarter, educated consumers!

How Mid-Century Menu Plans to increase appreciation for vintage recipes and vintage cooking techniques:

Increasing the hilarious, well-written recipe tests that she currently pots on her blog and makes her husband test-test.

This one was a sandwich shaped like a poodle!

A free, interactive recipe archive available on her blog, Mid-CenturyMenu.com that will be regularly updated with content curated by Ruth from her extensive personal collection of vintage recipes, cookbooks, and ephemera.  This archive will be categorized for easy search by title, cooking technique, primary resource material, and ingredient. Readers will be able to sign up for a free account they can use to save their favorite recipes and to upload family favorites from their own personal collection, increasing the amount of primary source material available to readers.

A cooking school (http://acupofhistorycookingschool.com/) that will have video courses that teach the history of vintage recipes and dishes, and step-by step-tutorials to help students recreate vintage dishes for their own table.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and please consider helping to preserve vintage recipes for future generations!
