Milestone Goals
Humerus!
If I get to this amount one of these I will do per month:
Adding the muscles on the humerus of the rat is going to take some time, research and additional material. I promise I will not show you the gooey stuff, but if you want to see it, that can be arranged!

Forearm!
Adding the muscles on the forearm of the rat is going to take some time, research and additional material. I promise I will not show you the gooey stuff, but if you want to see it, that can be arranged!
Shoulders!
Adding the muscles of the shoulders of the rat is going to take some time, research and additional material. I promise I will not show you the gooey stuff, but if you want to see it, that can be arranged!
Lymph all the way!
Having good drainage is important for any system. A rat needs his lymph system.
Buy new equipment
For me to do my work properly I have to have a good working machine. Right now my pc is from the beginning of 2010 and frequently giving me a blue screen. I have set my mind on this machine:
* Intel Core i7 5960X OC 3,5GHz Hexacore met Hyper Threading, 16 Threads
* 32GB DDR4 Quad Channel geheugen
* NVidia Quadro K4200 4GB GDDR5
* SSD 2x 120GB in raid 0, 1000MB/sec T240GB
* Active highend cooling
* Superstil 19dB
Workstation
If I get to 1200 a month, this machine will be within my reach ;-)

As you have seen in the video, I am Mieke Roth, scientific illustrator gone 3d (print). I have a MSc. in animal science and worked for scientific magazines, universities and research institutes all over the world. They ask me because my work is unique, beautiful and accurate.
And I know my way in scientific research.
But most important: I can't stop creating.
In between commissions I keep working to improve my skills and I want to share as much as possible of that with a larger audience. That is why I made this Patreon. It gives me a change to have a base income and become better along the way.
Making science visible and fun to watch is the most fulfilling job in the world to me.
And I will tell you a secret:
One of my big wishes is working on a PhD in paleontology by giving 3d life to a dinosaur!
So everything I work on not only has to be beautiful but also anatomically correct.

So in the meantime I work on extant animals like the rat.
That way my skills can only improve. Along the way some great Sci-Art is created that can easily be used in education.

As you can see, this rat seems almost complete. But there still is a lot of work to be done. The rat still is in need of muscles at its forepaws, the lymph nodes aren't there and a lot more (like: did you know a rat has a big muscle from the back of its foreleg that controls the skin on its back?). For that I need to do a lot of research and some help from specialized researchers if I am stuck at some part.
Once the anatomy is finished the rat is going to be optimized for 3d print! Making simplified ones for kids and up to the really complex ones for students at universities and anyone who is interested!
And all of it I will show here, on my Patreon.
I will answer questions, make digital prints of the rat on request and will show you how I do it.
So go on, see how you can become my patron. That way you are helping me to make some great educational material, sharpen my skills so it gets even better and it gives me the opportunity to show you some great stuff along the way!
My first goal for the Patreon right now is to finish and optimize the rat. I take it one step at a time and add more goals along the way. Once finished I will show you how I make the 3d printing models and give discount to patrons on 3d prints! Since I never work in a straight line form A to B, I will regularly show additional 3d print work I am putting in my Shapeways shop!
