I am a gay South African Indian Australian woman. I believes stories save lives. I left my secure corporate job to found two social enterprises: Ground Chai which provides skill workshops to rural high schools subsidised by chai sales and; Ethnic LGBT+ which is Australia's only free national website providing support, content and resources for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) LGBTIQ+ individuals. I have travelled 57,000KM around Australia in a self built tiny home on the back of a trailer to connect with rural and regional youth in order to tackle high youth suicide rates.

I know what it is like to feel invisible, to not see yourself. For ten years I struggled to navigate between by cultural identity and my sexual identity, feeling I could either be Indian or gay. A turning point for me was finally being able to bring my family into my full identity. This gave me the courage to found Ethnic LGBT+ in 2017. To date, Ethnic LGBT+ has reached 5,000 individuals across every continent. That's 5,000 people who potentially could not see themselves before.

I believe that by sharing your story, you can save lives, people can start to see themselves. I have been travelling across the Asia-Pacific to collect the stories of LGBTIQ+ communities in India, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam. To continue documenting these important stories, stories that often go untold, I need you help.

Your support means I can continue to capture people's lives and to share their stories, especially in remote and regional Australia. I can help make them feel visible, connected and part of a bigger community.

Every donation, no matter how small, enables me to continue to do the work I do, to firstly empower CALD LGBTIQ+ individuals with the tools and ability to share their story, secondly the space to share their story and thirdly a forum in which to access their story and see themselves.

Every story counts. Every story needs to be told. Together, let's share our stories.

Ethnic LGBT+ Support Level

We want to give you as much Ethnic LGBT+ content as possible. This includes documenting stories, collating academic literature, collecting data, sharing support networks and curating thought pieces all with an Ethnic LGBT+ focus. We believe stories save lives and want content to be as accessible as possible. So, we're not focusing on a tiered reward system (we know most Patreons aren't in it for the rewards anyway).

Instead, we're asking you to make a monthly pledge at an amount that feels comfortable to you. You can pledge just $1 per month or more - it is all up to you. We are grateful for your support. Your money allows us to keep documenting and sharing the stories that often go untold in our societies, the stories of the Ethnic LGBT+ community. Together, let's share our stories to create a more inclusive and safe society.

Goals
1 of 250 patrons
When I reach 250 patrons, I'll hire a facilitator to help me conduct in-person support groups for Ethnic LGBT+ individuals across all the major cities in Australia.
