I've always wanted to be a writer, but until recently never fully believed it was within my reach. Like playing in the NBA or being a ballerina, it's something that for this tiny curvy girl in Spain… just felt out of reach, like the upper shelves in kitchens and supermarkets.

I grew up. I became a freelance translator. My uncle gave me one of those wooden kitchen stools that you build yourself… so handy! While translating I discovered that my mind is very creative when faced with clients and deadlines.

I learned that sometimes, you don't need to grow more, you need the right tool.

At some point I thought: thanks to the beauty of the Internet, I only need one paying patron to become a paid writer, and two to become officially a published author with readers. So I'm looking for you, my very first client, and you, my second patron, my second official reader paying for things I've written. I need you there, listening, so I can speak. I need you there, reading, so I can write. I also need you to give me the time, resources (and mental permission) to translate my English texts into Spanish and my Spanish texts into English.

Please join me, we'll have fun. We'll reach the upper shelves of life.

——

What will you write?
I have actually been writing on the Internet for more than ten years now. You can read most the Safe For Work stuff at http://minibego.com/blog. Current categories in the site include art, poetryshort stories, travel, linguistics, human rights (specially LGTBIQ+ rights and women's rights), business, translation, and interpreting.

I also tweet at http://twitter.com/minibego and as a short-form blog it includes all sorts of randomness and spur of the moment thoughts about work, motherhood, art, current events, and the like.

Wait, Safe For Work?
There are places online where I have published content for those over 18 years of age. If my patrons here want more of that, they shall have it. Like @Gellar says, I'll give you a SPOILER ALERT: all LGTBIQ+ characters will get a happy ending.

How much will you write?
As much as I possibly can. The more patrons I get, the more other jobs I will be able to pass on to other people… so I can go on writing for you.

Will you do other artistic stuff?
Maybe. Maybe I'll sing or paint or make calligraphy or take photographs for you. But that'll be free on top of the writing.

What will I get for my patronage?
The nice warm feeling that there's more stuff written by me in the world because you made me do it.

Also, if there's enough of you, ebook versions, real, wonderfully smelling paperback versions, or even glorious hardcover books with all kinds of wonderfulness in them. Books than you will be able to give to technophobes as a gift. They will be at people's bedside tables. Humans will curl with books with my name on them (and your name on them!) in an armchair. Maybe those books will be that needed comfort in a long train ride. Or in life. But I digress.

Imagine. Books. Those things that writers write and readers fall into. It will be amazing.

In the meantime, I'll be able to pay for the server and maintenance costs in my blog. Maybe also give it an upgrade so the long-form pieces are more readable.

Have you ever written something because someone told you to?
Sure. My TEDx talk, for example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWt0Y-b7AGw
Also, as we're on Patreon: if you're a fan of Amanda Palmer, you'll be able to see her influence here.

Any other questions?
If you have a question, just let me know and I'll try to answer it right here.

¿Vas a traducir todo esto al español?
Sí, en breve.

Wow, that's nice. Each one of you will be sponsoring about half an hour of me writing every month (ever heard of the Pomodoro technique?) I'll tell you which bit is yours, and publish your name in the acknowledgement section. I hope that makes you feel wonderful. You deserve that and more (maybe I'll come up with more creative rewards). For a start, you'll get a handwritten letter of thanks, anything I publish on paper, and access to a monthly webcast. I'm sure we'll have a blast.

Here you are, wondering what else could a girl want? What about a group of people just happy to help me write? There's no special reward here, just you helping me, and me being very thankful. There'll also be a monthly meet up online so I can listen to you too.

Wow, that'll give me some serious time to write every month. You'll get it before everyone else does. Maybe some stuff that no-one else gets too. It'll be a literary secret between you and me. Probably a poem inspired by your generosity, with my best calligraphy. I'm limiting this to twenty, one per working day… once a month it will be your day.

This is serious. I could probably quit some boring stuff I don't want to do and WRITE for HOURS every day, if you exist. If there's more than one you I could even, I don't know, be a full time writer, have time with my children, sleep at night, have a shower every day, get someone to massage my neck when it cramps from typing, pay artists to collaborate with me, that sort of thing. Amazing. The reward, for you? You'll be the one making it possible, and because you want to do this crazy thing for me, that'll be enough for you. Yet I'll happily take you for dinner at least once every season (probably more if you live close), keep you posted of whatever you want to know via Skype, or SMS, or whatever you prefer, and generally get to know you because you, my dear, you rock.

You, my friend, are legendary. We're talking about changing my life forever, here. I'll get my stuff scanned in high resolution… and then I'll keep the scan and give you the original, my dear life-altering friend. I'll write love letters to you in purple ink. I'll send them wherever you are in the world in golden envelopes with random presents. I'll travel the world to give them to you in person. I'll write your name in the snow on Mount Fuji, if that's your thing. I'll publish my stuff in the most beautiful, sustainable, elegantly designed mediums ever invented, thanks to you.
Goals
$97 of $100 per month
With $100 a month I'll be able to publish 2 ebooks with pretty layouts every year.
Con 100 $ al mes podré publicar 2 ebooks bellamente maquetados al año.
