Hi there,

I’m Min. Around two years ago, the phrase "dancer in the dark spinning bits of light outward" came to me and that is what I've been training to be through butoh dance, performance art, participatory experiences, images, and words. I believe in the power of art as a social and spiritual practice. After my journey of studying rhetoric, philosophy, film, games, other art forms, and consciousness, I have felt how the body can communicate the language of the heart and the soul, beyond the reach of our words and the mind. I’ve been deeply moved by the sense of presence, connection, and love I’ve felt in my body in watching my dance teachers’ performances and in my trainings and hope to be able to share these senses with as many people as possible through the world wide web and public performances.

With your loving support for the art and this artist, I would like to research and experiment with different ways of sharing the sense of presence in connection that can come from a live performance, through internet communities and channels, to share the subtle and long-term revolution of art and embodiment, beyond the high paywalls and limited spaces in venues. My hope is that when we come into presence and awareness, into a different kind of attunement, we will be moved to fall in love, compassion, and care for ourselves, one another, and the world.

You can check out some of my works here: dancetotheedge.com
Some of the things I’ve created include:
  • Origins of a Woman - a ritual performance with butoh dance and images, honoring the history of the comfort women (which I hope to further share toward healing the trauma between the Korean and Japanese people)
  • public and community street performances of butoh dance and meditation on healing the relations between the feminine and masculine, and rising into my own sense of feminine power
  • Eye Gaze - an experiment in connection and capturing the look of presence
  • Sylvan Echoes - an immersive theatrical installation on a community that cares for one another, based on the stories of lives that were impacted after Turnip was elected
  • Fanonenon - a performative game about social media as a mask that facilitates hate crimes

About Patreon - in the words of the amazing Amanda Palmer,
“this patreon is for people who want to help sustain my ability and freedom to MAKE WHAT I WANT, WHEN I WANT – liberated from commercial interests – by paying me a set amount of money every time i create something.

for an overview of how patreon works in general, they’ve got a great primer HERE to explain how it works. but basically: you give patreon your credit card # (or paypal) and you’re charged $1 (or more, if you choose) at the end every month to support me and my collaborators in our general art-making undertakings.”

* I will be creating a "thing" around once a month, so you won't get charged more than that, just to clarify!

I have been creating and will continue to create. Your support would support me to go further with more confidence, love, and power. With your support, I would like to spend more time documenting and sharing the process of creation, practice, and life, and experiment with how art, presence, and connection can be shared with you and others who may resonate.

More art coming soon…

Dunbar's estimate of the number of relationships people can keep track of is between 100-200. With a clan of loving supporters, I will create an internet art work around care and support, based on all the members of this clan. <3
