About Minor Mishap Marching Band

Hi, we’re the Minor Mishap Marching Band - a 25-piece cacophonous circus brass band from Austin, Texas. We care about booty-shakin' music, creating community, and having uproarious fun. We perform in unexpected spaces. We are 25 musicians on a 90' wide flotilla out on the lake, in a fleet of pedicabs, in the swimming pool on a 103º day, or walking down the sidewalk in your neighborhood.

Most of our community-building, public-space shows are free because we don’t want tickets or income-level to interrupt the community and musical interactions we are creating. It’s really about the fun, not about the money…. but… it costs money to keep the shenanigans going.

That’s where you come in. Maybe you and your kids were able to attend the Winter Solstice Lantern Parade and you want to make sure we are able to continue doing this special show. Maybe you were kayaking one evening, happened upon our flotilla, and it was a memorable experience.  Maybe you’re enjoying the new record and would like to pay for music like we did back in ancient days of the 1980’s.

We are using Patreon to provide a place for you to help us keep making music and community.  Our main priority is to compensate our many musicians for the incredible time and effort that goes into our performances, but we also have to pay for insurance and other boring things. And, let’s be honest, music streams for free these days, but paying the recording engineer still costs what it’s always cost.

Our mission is to foster community through playful, inventive, joyful musical performances which reinvigorate public spaces. We’ve been doing so for the past 11 years. We hope you will join us in this mission to make Austin a more interesting and inclusive place to live. We hope you love our funk-filled new record Space Dog! Maybe you can contribute a little, maybe you can contribute a lot. It’s totally up to you, and we value support from everyone at whatever level is comfortable for them.  We are moving our Krewe de Mishappiness, tip jars, and CD sales all right here - to Patreon - as a single place to create funding to further grand community shenanigans, booty shaking, and much Mishappiness. We hope you can join us!

“Happy is back” - the Austin Chronicle

“It’s as if all the hooligans that got kicked out of marching band for their boisterousness and punk rock covers came together and formed a circus-punk-brass band.”— Do512
