    About

''Remarkably gifted...her exquisite music will transport you"

    -Paul Freeman

Perhaps best known for her work in the Bay Area "super-group" Blame Sally, Monica Pasqual has managed to maintain an impressive solo career both before and during the Blame Sally years. Already the winner of six Independent Music Awards and six Emmy Awards, in June 2019 she took home three more IMA's with songs from her upcoming release, and sixth solo effort, You Can't Kill Light. In April of 2020 the album was awarded Best Adult Contemporary Album by the Independent Music Awards.

"Pasqual is a very special artist, exploring love, loss and life in profoundly moving ways."

    - Pop Culture Classics

Thank you for checking out my Patreon Page and welcome to a new age for artists in general and me in particular. Under this subscription-based model musicians, artists and writers interact directly with the patrons who care about our work.

In other words: "Supporting my Patreon Page keeps me writing and composing! I invite you into my creative process and in return, your contribution directly supports me to work, thrive and produce more songs, and words.  We live in a time when very few people pay for the music they listen to or the words they read, and that's why we need your help.

With your subscription (starting as low as three dollars a month) you get to stay totally up to date. You hear it first, read it first, and own it first. Most importantly, you have the satisfaction of knowing that because of you it's getting done.

    The Big Picture:

I am writing new songs and continuing to write my memoir. Additionally,  along with BZ Lewis, who is my long-time music partner and an amazing engineer,  I plan on producing and recording those songs, re-mixing already recorded songs and recording acoustic versions of favorites.

Rather than approaching this on a per project basis, I hope that you will join me on a journey-in-process. Hear the songs as they are finished instead of waiting until the album is done. Read the memoir chapters as they emerge. In short, be a part of this now instead of later - be the fuel that literally feeds the engine!

A little of my history for context:

Some of you have known me for a long time - I started recording songs in the mid-90s and finished three albums prior to Blame Sally.  (Three Complete Novels, Sweet Remains and With What is Mine).

A lot more of you got to know me in Blame Sally, a band I formed in 2000 with three amazing women. We released eight albums in 13 years. From 2008-2013 we were lucky enough to be under contract with a company that supported us as we wrote, recorded and toured the US and Europe extensively. That extraordinary circumstance allowed us to be full-time musicians for the first time in our lives.

In 2014 I formed an indie-folk band called Monica Pasqual & the Handsome Brunettes.  With the help of a successful Indiegogo campaign we funded and released the album "Is Fortune a Wheel" in 2016 which was a finalist for the Independent Music Awards. We perform regularly in the Bay Area and the West Coast and cellist Josh McClain and I spent three weeks touring Germany this spring. We are currently booking our spring 2018 return.

Still others of you have met me as a songwriting coach and teacher, or you have heard one of the albums I have produced for other artists. Not many of you know that I've composed lots of documentary soundtracks and music for film and television with my good friend and co-Emmy award winner, BZ Lewis.

And finally, there are those of you who met me first because of my online memoir - "The Story of Tom and Monica: A San Francisco Memoir". I released 15 chapters online as I wrote them. Both the writing of it and then the response it received took me totally by surprise.

I mention all these different projects and passions that I've been involved in for the last 25 years because they very much define the creative life I live - not very linear, not very "contained" but rather something fluid and expansive. From an artistic point of view I think it makes sense to push boundaries, follow my passion, explore, dig, suffer, run out to the very edge of the cliff and create out of a kind of turmoil.

Check out the rewards column and take part at whatever level feels right and doable for you.

And thank you. Thank you for all the ways you've believed in and encouraged me as an artist in the past, now and in the future.
