Who Am I?For those who may not know me, I am a longtime Independent musician, singer and artist. I got my start in the Washington D.C. punk rock scene fronting a number of bands, but I'm most well known for my years in Faith and the Muse. My music ranges from Dark Alternative Rock to Electro-Tribal, from Avant Garde to NeoClassical, Ambient Soundscape to Folk - there really are no boundaries in my own eclectic universe. I write music. I sing. I perform. I score film. I paint. I write. I create.
Why I Love to Make Music and ArtFrom the moment I was able to hum a melody or draw a picture, I felt compelled to create. When I was a child, I was often off my own. I performed operas in my head. I wrote tales about fantastical creatures and read them aloud to my friends. I would get lost in the forest and collect odd things I found to build new worlds. I feel the most connected to the Truth of life - what really matters - when I am in the flow of creating.
Challenges of being an Independent ArtistI have always been in the Underground, from punk rock, post-punk to Gothic and beyond with a small but very loyal fanbase. I once was able to borrow funds to press CDs - then be able to pay them back from sales. This is no longer a possibility. The digital revolution has made it very hard to grasp the real value of the Independent artist and their creative process. We need that deep connection in order to create, something I feel has become lost due to the onslaught of constant input from all directions. This is why creating a Patreon page is something I think will be amazing: a place where you can be part of the new project I am working on.
New Music on the HorizonLast year, I scored my first film (yet to be released); it was an incredible learning experience and helped me to broaden my musical horizons. This compelled me to begin working on a new concept: an exploration into a very unorthodox NeoClassical piece set in Movements - all revolving around a single theme - a melody that's been in my head for years now. Each Movement will involve different styles and sounds - I'm going to call upon some special guests to help me bring some of the music to life. The music will be a journey with voice, beat and sound - it will take time to create, and you can take this journey with me!
What Your Support Rewards You as Patrons of My WorkHaving a Patreon page and getting monthly support will really allow me to concentrate on writing new music. I will be blogging news on the project for all of my Patrons to see. As a Patron, you will have an exclusive peek at this project that no one else will.
As a $5 a month supporter, you will get to have a new piece of the music of the project in progress each month. Only my Patrons. It might be an instrumental, I may be singing, it might involve a tribal beat - I won't know until I get there.
For those who could afford $20 or up a month, you will get everything mentioned above, plus deeper access to the work thus far, and an inner view on my creative process with extra musical pieces and views of the project's progress. For those who can pledge $50, you get all of the above, plus a behind-the-scenes video blog on the project featuring the musicians I am working with at that time, and a special handmade ACEO for every month you are here. The art will be photographed and featured in the CD book as well.
This support will give me the ability to truly concentrate on my creative work, and hopefully connect to your own creative process - whatever it may be.
