About Monkeypolice188

About me
I'm Monkypolice188, or just Monky for short. I make lore-friendly vehicle mods for Grand Theft Auto V, focusing around industrial, commercial and emergency vehicles.
My personal interests include video games, cars, trucks and emergency vehicles. I am especially interested in game development and audio engineering. Aside from the GTA series, my favorite video game series' and genres include Watch Dogs, Driver and Mafia. I prefer sandbox and open-world games.
Outside of modding, my hobbies include musical studies, sound mixing, and playing various musical instruments including the guitar and piano. I'm also keen to stay in shape, and as of recently an avid sports/fitness instructor.
Modding
I began modding Grand Theft Auto V in late 2018, beginning with basic texture edits, I have gradually ventured across various fields of game modding, including vehicle models, liveries, sounds and scenario/world generation.
Perhaps most notable for my extensive research in audio data and the engineering behind how sounds are put together in GTA V, I was largely involved in research into the game's various sound types and categories - which had only just been decrypted, and have documented all my research for other users to use towards their own projects.
I am very thankful to have worked alongside some of the most talented modders amongst the GTA V modding scene while working on some of my early projects. I was introduced to the Vanillaworks Project in 2018 and was welcomed by members of the team in their Discord server, where most of my knowledge of GTA V has come from. Since then, I have had the delight of stumbling across various other communities who are committed to other specific projects, including map modding, vehicle projects and general modding support. Many of my projects during the period of 2018 to 2019 evolved out of collaborations between myself and other Vanillaworks members, until early 2020 when I began releasing projects by myself.
I release most of my work to the public at GTA5-Mods.com. Here on Patreon, users can show their appreciation for my work and get an insight on the inner-workings of some of my work, get access to upcoming updates to projects, and keep up-to-date on the latest releases and changes.
Favorite projects
There are too many projects for me to single out a single favorite, so here is a collection of some of my favorites that were so much fun to work on, and involved learning lots of various different fields of modding, some of which have had little attention by the rest of the community.
Liberty City Vehicle & Ped Pack
The largest and greatest project of all time, LC Pack aims to bring both new and old appearances of Liberty City vehicles, including LCPD, FDLC, taxis, and so much more.
The pack was one of my greatest opportunities to show off what I had learned from audio research, with fully customized add-on siren sounds, each individually configurated with different patterns and behaviors. It was also marked a landmark achievement as I began to scratch-model much larger vehicle parts, including the FDLC Heavy Rescue Truck and LCPD TRU Unit, two of my all-time favorite emergency releases, each packed with great detail and functionality.
It made its first release in 2018 largely thanks to many members of the Vanillaworks community who provided so much content to work from, including vehicle conversions, mapped vehicles and model edits. Since then, a large portion of the content has been overhauled to match modern-day standards and incorporate some of the latest features and details that is to be expected from high-quality releases. To date, the pack has gained over 20,000 downloads across 4 individual releases. It still remains one of my most actively worked-on projects and still keeps me busy to this day. I am so thankful to the community for all of their support on LC Pack.

Brute Mr Tasty
My latest and one of my all-time greater projects has to be the Mr Tasty. Lots of work was put into completely redoing the original GTA IV iteration of the classic ice-cream van we all know and loved. Starting from scratch with the interior is just the start, with a slightly more classic-approach to my already classy Boxville Retro edit from 2020, and lots of features to stack on top of that - functional jingles, new liveries, interior textures, window decals, proper LODs, and glass shards.

Brute School Bus & Derby Bus
The School Bus was one of my first projects to include a substantial amount of aftermarket customization options, available for its demolition-based racing alternative, the Derby Bus. The initial idea of extending the regular Prison Bus originated from 2019 when I drew up plans on how much to extend it by. When executing the plan just as a mockup, I suddenly realized how much potential the vehicle could have, in the form of the racing equivalent.
Working on customization for the Derby Bus was great fun, as it was a fantastic opportunity to come up with my own ideas and interpretations of demolition-themed lunacy. Adding options such as the bulldozer scoop, roadsign ramp, apocalyptical equipment and the iconic double-decker flipped bus was not only hard-work in a modelling and optimization sense, but also proved difficult to avoid conflicts and other possible consequences. This led to a lot of research into vehicles with such modifications already, such as the Arena War series.
Customization aside, I put a lot of work into the initial extended model too, with a completely revamped chassis, interior and lots of extra detailing too, including functional warning lights, a working stop sign, and new wheels.
