About

I'm a nearly 30-something artist, cartoonist, writer, one-time would-be guitarist, occasional practitioner of calligraphy with a tendency to go a bit wild in the kitchen. I live with my spouse and pet cat, and go on ghost hunting adventures, travels across states, and seeks out all sorts of stories for ourselves.

Who are you, and what is this?
My name is Matthew, a.k.a. Mukat Ki'Kaarn, and I've been an artist around the Internet for going on about 8 years now. I love giant ladies (tall as skyscrapers, or more!), monster girls, people getting shrunk, all sorts of people and creatures getting swallowed alive, for fun or for fright. It's been a wild and exciting ride so far, but in order to keep going at the pace I've tried to keep, I'm looking for help from my fans all around the world.

What's a Patreon, and Why do You Need it?
Patreon is a way for artists and other creators to appeal directly to their audience for support. It's a bit like pledging to public radio or television: you contribute an amount of money per month to support that artist in continuing their work. Which is making stuff for all of you to look at, read, and enjoy!

Why I need it, particularly, is very simple. I'm the sole source of income in my household, and my spouse and I continue to struggle badly with making ends meet. We are constantly one catastrophe away from bankruptcy, and this anxiety has only made her and I feel worse than we already do.

Additionally, what income I do get from my art comes largely from commissions. While I enjoy drawing for others, it both takes time away from stories and images I want to create and share, and leaves me little to no personal time to actually enjoy my own life. I essentially go from one full-time job doing office work to another drawing art constantly, with barely a chance to breathe in-between.

Pledging your support means I have to do fewer commissions to support my family, and will allow me to start putting money away to improve my spouse's health, save towards things that we need and dreams that we have (we do eventually want to own our own home, so we're not getting clobbered with high rent every month), and simply live with a lot less anxiety about being prepared for whatever unexpected things may come down the pipe at us.

What's in it for Me, Though?
It's about me, but it's also about you, too. Aside from simply supporting an artist that you already enjoy (or that you're discovering for the first time, woo hoo!), there are all manner of rewards available for people who donate at different tiers-- the higher your monthly pledge, the more access you gain to my original work and my drawing process, and the greater your chances of getting in on the fun by having your characters appear alongside my own in pinups and comics!

I want to check you out!

One last thing: I want to say thank you to every last one of you. I have had the love and support of dozens, if not hundreds, of people all over the world over the past several years. Thanks to you, I have continued to push myself to become a better artist, and give you all the best possible work that I can. I hope that the future will continue to allow me to create art for all of you; with your financial support, that not only can be, but IS, possible.
