Hi, my name is Jerm, and I am South Africa’s 39th best cartoonist.

I believe in free speech and need your help influencing the conversation to one that values reason, freedom, and prosperity.

Since 2005, my work has featured in a variety of mediums across South Africa and other countries like the United States, Britain, Belgium, Germany, France, Netherlands, Namibia, and India.

Some of my clients have included the Sunday Times, The Star, City Press, Rapport, Beeld, The Times, FHM, Playboy, Rolling Stone, Daily Maverick, The New Age, EWN, eNCA, TechCentral, Maroela Media, AfriForum, Solidarity, Institute Of Race Relations, Politicsweb, Investec, Microsoft, Webber Wentzel, Standard Bank, OUTA, Animal Zone, Free Market Foundation, Pretoria FM, Jewish Zionist Federation, The Orania Movement, FlySafair, Kulula, MTN, Bizcommunity, Fair Cape Dairies, Private Edition, Sage, Coin Insider, and Afrihost. Some of my political work has been syndicated via the New York Times.

I have  won a few awards and have two books published by Penguin, and will be working on a third one soon.

If you have a moment, then please have a look at the cartoon section  on my website.

So, what is this Patreon story?

As an experiment, I'd like to engage more closely with readers. Historically, cartooning has been about cartoonists and their editors in a specific region. The internet has changed all of this. Today, cartooning can be about cartoonists and their readers anywhere in the world.

Why does this matter?

Well, firstly, it means no censorship because no editors or publications are involved. And secondly, it means that readers can give cartoon ideas and be involved in the process and be credited in my work. Through social media, my cartoons have reached an enormous amount of people around the world.

Here is what I am proposing.

With your small monthly contribution, I will draw a weekly cartoon about, well, pretty much anything from politics (which is the largest part of my work) to most other stuff. (My website has a great selection of  categories I've covered over the years.)

Patrons will be able to interact exclusively with me and other patrons as we share and critique ideas; get behind-the-scenes content from me; receive signed copies and prints of my work; see their name next to my signature in cartoons towards which they've contributed; live Q&A video chats; drinks (when I'm in your area); and a few more things I'm yet to decide on. (I will add exciting stuff. Promise.)

And lastly...

Please sign up for my cartoon email. I send it out, more or less, weekly. It contains cartoons and no spam. There are a lot of people subscribed, so I'm guessing it's worth it!
