About Myrjamvdv

Empowering young girls to pursue their dreams with comics

I have a passion for creating fun and happy stories that pull at the heartstrings of kids. I would love to be able to make even more short stories for you and your little ones, and your support can help me with that.
Don't worry, all my short stories will remain available for free online. I ask for your s
upport so I can make more diverse stories in a sustainable way, and in return, you get to access all kinds of goodies for you and your kids.

I promise you will get positive stories about girls
Stories by girls for girls
In 2018 over 68% of protagonists of the top 100 children's books were boys. I want to change that. My stories have more female than male protagonists, and I make a conscious effort to add diversity across the board. If I write a story about boys, I also make a point to use that story fight stereotypes and offer a different view on masculinity.

Positive stories
Do you know that feeling of curling up with a book and a hot drink on a rainy day? The warm, fuzziness of a cuddle? The feeling of the first spring warmth? That's the feeling I strive for in my stories. They are bright and happy and full of smiles.

Why comics?
Comics are fun!
To me, there's no greater reward than seeing a child light up when they read a story that speaks to them. It's a great source of personal joy, and I'm sure you can relate that seeing your kids smile, makes you smile too.

Comics help literacy
For some kids, reading isn't easy or fun. Comics can help with that by creating a reading habit. By combining words with pictures they make the reading process easier and more fun. They are a great starting point for any child who is having a hard time, and they help maintain a good reading habit for everyone.

Comics help develop emotional intelligence
Comics are full of close up shots of expressions, helping readers understand how certain situations make others feel. Although I make a point out of not preaching in my stories, there often is an element of kindness that can be a major role model for readers, young and old.
