‘So fairy tales, folk tales, stories from the oral tradition are all of them the most vital connection we have with the imaginations of the ordinary men and women whose labour created our world.’ - Angela Carter
________________________________________________________________________

A storytelling podcast exploring folkloric realms - an ongoing project focusing on region and culture specific folklore, complete with immersive narrative, lush music...and a darker edge.

Creator Nicole Schmidt is a folklore researcher and writer. With an MA in literature and a love for folklore and storytelling, her one goal is to give people an immersive story experience that connects them with the collective imaginations of peoples from around the world - a sort of Atlas Obscura of folklore and oral storytelling.

Nicole’s intent is to bring to life that same immediacy, the same earnest involvement in the story she had all those years ago when her grandfather whipped up fantastic tales. She also wants to connect you with the stories of generations past, with the stories produced by those lost to history - and as Angela Carter so eloquently put it - with the vivid, raw narratives of the anonymous poor ‘whose labour formed our world.'

Thank you for being a part of this vision to diffuse creative narrative, forged by centuries of people otherwise lost and forgotten in time.

You, my friend, are essential in maintaining the portal to the lands of ancient tales - and keeping alive the imaginative narratives of those nameless folk who would otherwise fall into anonymity. So you get your name listed as a patron on my website
You also get the reward of knowing you're essential in keeping the podcast sustainable by supporting the future content: Series 2 - Folklorica Nordica; Series 3 - Folklore of the Baltics and future series focusing on South American & Asian Folklore.
Hero/Heroine of Folkloric Realms
$5 or more per month 1 patron
You're helping fight the good fight of keeping traditional narrative alive so you get your name listed on the website & access to special supplemental episodes, including informational episodes that will discuss the research behind the stories!

Two unreleased ‘Lore Britannia’ episodes are currently available and future patrons only episodes will include 'Lost Children'; 'Slavic Vampire Lore'...and more.

Informational episodes will include:
1. Themed series of comparative folklore: 'In Search of the Fey Folk: Faerie Lore Around the World' etc
2. An Urban Legends series

Travelling Bards of Folkloric Realms
$10 or more per month 3 patrons
You're joining forces with Mythos to look beyond the veil and unleash the power of traditional narrative - and you're making it possible to spread the influence of these stories, often buried and waiting to be re-imagined! So you get:
1. E-books of each season's transcripts, complete with recommended playlists for an immersive reading experience (Lore Britannia currently available)
3. Scans of research notes
PLUS - all the patrons only episodes!

The episode transcripts and research notes might be a great way to get inspiration for your own creative projects! And if you send me images, videos and files of your own creative projects inspired by Mythos, I plan to have a sort of ‘honorable mentions’ section in my email newsletter and on the Facebook page.
Goals
$38 of $250 per month
I've made the big decision to go down to a 4-day work week at day job. I decided on a combination of this and Patreon to help maintain current income AND keep monthly episodes sustainable and long term. Because my goal is to diffuse the creative oral narratives of our ancestors in a fresh and creative way, I spend hours researching and writing episode scripts. Reaching this goal will trigger the creation and release of Series 3: Folklorica Nordica. I’ll also be able to release bi-monthly patrons only content
