Salaam!

I'm a feminist Qur’anic exegete who adopts a Qur’an-first interpretative approach: all exegeses I write are founded on Qur’anic verses, and hadith contribute a secondary, supportive role for perspectives that are already established by the Qur’an. I produce unique, analytical, and detailed arguments founded on the Qur’anic principles of justice, equality, virtue, and mercy. Religious issues addressed in my exegeses are supported most substantially with discussions of word usage, style, and grammar.

I'm also a novelist. My primary genres are magical realism, science fiction, and fantasy. I write fiction that features recognizably non-European worlds and characters, whose identities, stories, and worlds are sculpted after and influenced by diaspora. I'm particularly interested in writing stories that feature characters of underrepresented sexes, races, sexualities, and abilities.
