Things are starting to get serious. Over $400 per month will be going to help fundamentalist, or polygamist Mormons transition into the real world. HoldingOutHelp.org is making a real world difference for real world problems and we should all be proud of that. I'm willing to put in the effort to sweeten this goal, by making every episode 2 hours or longer. I'll also release some of the special edition episodes that have regularly
This is getting real...
$1,000 per episode, up to 2 monthly.
By this point the show has reached a level I never thought possible. I'm only putting this on here, and making the description because I never expect that I'll have to deal with providing the reward for $1000 per episode. I'll make every episode 3 hours or more, and examine everything in much further depth than I have been up to this point. I'll re-record the first 2 episodes to revise quality and content. I'll also release all my discussions with other people for everybody to download. These episodes are normally reserved for patrons only, and any discussions after this goal is reached will remain that way, but hitting this goal breaks that barrier for non-patrons. Over $400 dollars will be going to help Mormons transition out of Mormonism every month. That enough to pay for low income housing for a sister-wife and her children in the real world. I don't ever expect we will get here, but it's sure worth a shot, and worth putting as a goal. Also, patron shout outs will become their own episodes separate from the history, meaning if enough people want the patreon advertisements to be removed from the historical episodes, this is the goal to reach, and I will oblige.
Things are about to change dramatically.
$2,000 per episode, up to 2 monthly.
It's obvious by this point, that this show is something for the common good. I highly doubt I will ever have to worry about this, but the patrons have decided that the world needs the information in this show, more than it needs another truck driver. So some things will change dramatically. I'll be forced to quit my job in order to provide 2 more, 2 hour long episodes every month, that don't include Patreon announcements or listener feedback, they will just be straight history. These episodes will be released during the off weeks of the normal episodes, making the show a weekly endeavor but still only charging for two episodes per month. That's 12+ hours of Naked Mormonism per month. The patreon rewards system will also have to change, I'll still be donating over $400 per month to the non-profit organizations, but I will need to incorporate my general living expenses into the cost of the show. If it ever happens to come down to this, I'll do all the math for what the numbers would be and post it, but $400 per month will always be guaranteed to helping Mormons and polygamists transition into the real world. But for now, this is just a pie in the sky dream that I figured I would throw out there for fun. If the patronage ever does get this high, it proves that the content provided is for the good of everybody, and none of it should be behind levels of patronage. That means I'll release everything that I do, and everything that I research, as free public information for everybody to use for whatever they deem necessary. Every audiobook episode with commentary will be released, every conversation, every extra document reading, everything will be given to everybody as soon as it becomes available. Every patron is nice enough to support me and my lifestyle, and this is the least I can do for all the patrons, and, after this goal is reached, anybody who cares to do some research on real Mormon history.

About

First off, I need to offer a little background on me as well as the podcast. I was born and raised in Northern Utah and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the LDS church) until around the age of 15. I was faithful to the LDS church, better known as a true believing mormon, or a 'TBM', but I slowly became apathetic toward it, like most teenage mormons do. I was also dissatisfied with various answers I would get to seemingly important questions about the doctrine, but I just figured every doubt could be explained away and I was going through a doubting phase much like all my friends, family and church leaders told me I was.
However, the doubt and apathy conspired to eventually corrode my will power for church attendance, so I just stopped going to church around 17, much to all my friends and families' dismay. Even though my attendance at church declined, I still attended Seminary class throughout my freshman-senior years in high school. Seminary is more or less mormon speak for bible study during school hours that the church sponsors. They fund a separate building off of school property, within walking distance of the school, and the class is called "released time" for legal purposes, of course.
After high school, I ended up graduating seminary, but, out of loathing the church, I virtually severed every tie I had in the community. I still spent time with my closest friends, but everybody else became very distanced from me. Fast forward 5 years, and I'm living in another state with essentially a new life. I'm now a moderately 'out' atheist and I want to examine the cult I was raised in.
Now, please don't think I'm just using that word for shock factor, honestly, I try not to shy away from the word 'cult', as the root of the word refers to a 'culture'. Now when I say culture, I mean that it's an entire way of life to structure the TBM's life around, much like any fundamental religious sect is. It wasn't just the church I went to on Sunday, it was also the meeting place for youth activities once or twice a week. It was the place that I saw my closest friends and classmates, and associated with them under reverence for the Lord. It was a place of where my youth soccer coach, was also my bishop (Pastor essentially). It's the building I devoted countless thoughts, feelings, and hours to, and of course, these thoughts and feelings that can't resist revival every time I drive past the ward building or see a member of my old ward. But most of all, the church provided the entire support structure, on which the person that is 'Bryce Blankenagel', was built. That's something I don't take lightly, and I'm thankful for.
I can't deny that the structure was beneficial, and I agree that it takes a village to raise a child, which is heavily embedded into the church's doctrine. However, teaching a child, or any person for that matter, what to think, instead of teaching them how to think, is not something that should be considered a good thing for the child, or society in general. So that's what I'm advocating against. Let's look at the evidence provided about the Mormon religion, and see what the people that were there in the early days had to say about it.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a large and influential church with many followers. The most recent self-reported count was just over 15 million members and a missionary force of nearly 100,000 strong.

A lot of confusion about the Church and its history has recently abounded, and we want to set the record straight. This podcast intends to look at Mormon history through the eyes of the people that
were actually there. To read more about what the show covers, check out our Home Page.

The main focus of this podcast lies in the dissection of the founding prophet Joseph Smith, who played an integral role and had a fascinating personality full of dark creativity and masterful deception.

Join us as we unveil the doctrine and release the deeply buried secrets of the LDS Church.

We believe in doing positive things with your pledges and enjoy putting your money into the feedback loop of positive humanism.
