A bit about me:

Hello! My name is Jennifer Miller, though many may know me as my online alias, "Nambroth". I've been making visual art for as long as I can remember, and have been sharing it online since 1997. I am a full time professional freelance artist, specializing in wildlife and fantasy paintings, though I also sculpt and work in several mediums. Most recently I am oil painting with great enthusiasm!
My first calling was that of fantasy and wildlife art, and to that end I love to paint real animals as well as mythological ones. I work in
both traditional paints as well as digital ones! Most recently, I have started to get into more sculpture work, and have created mini fluffy birds and work on realistic bird masks.

What gets shared here?

You will find that I share my work and occasional life updates here. Most of my posts to Patreon will be: Paintings, Works In Progress, some sculpture, and sketches. The subject matter will be mostly birds, wildlife, and fantasy creatures such as dragons and gryphons. You can see in the "Featured Tags" about how much of each I typically share! Both fantasy and wildlife art have been life-long passions of mine. See the rewards tiers below for specifics on what you will see, as a patron!

Why should I sign up?

This is not a paywall. 90% of all of my finished art is also shared across my online presence for free. Those that have enjoyed seeing my artwork on places such as Deviantart, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and Facebook will continue to see it. That said, there are bonuses to being Patrons! Patreon content will be: works in progress, sketchbook pages, journals from the artist, "first dibs" at available work, and a few odds and ends. These are things I normally do not share publicly online, so nothing has changed for my regular fans! This Patreon is not intended to be reward-heavy, but a way for kind folks to support me if they like seeing what I do and get some behind-the-scenes peeks!

A gryphon sketch. Patrons at some tiers get to see my entire sketchbook, as I draw and scan the sketches!

Why Patreon?

Working freelance is sometimes a bit rough. Personal projects especially tend to suffer! If you are able to help, I'd love to put more time into pulling the images out of my head and into existence! Since I first joined Patreon several years ago, my very kind patrons have helped me to achieve several dreams, including delving into oil painting for the first time, which has ended up becoming a passion of mine. Small amounts of support really add up, and have changed my life!
I also enjoy painting artworks of endangered species to raise awareness, promote education, and conservation...  and donate (money and artwork) to appropriate charities that work to save these wonderful animals, plants, habitats, and people . Creating art for conservation does not result in income, so when people support me on Patreon, I am granted the privilege to finance such artworks that I am not intending to see a monetary return on.
Additionally, I sometimes enjoy working on duck stamp competition paintings, which are special non-postage stamps that fund wetland conservation!

Painting birds. It's a thing I do.

How does this work?

Patreon is a platform that allows anyone to become a patron of the arts. Think of it sort of as an ongoing, online tip jar; if you like an artist's work, and can't afford or don't want to necessarily buy the artwork regularly, but still want to support them in some way? This is a great way to do it. It's a nod of your head, saying, "Hey, I like what you do, thanks for sharing, here's some support so you can keep going." It's all totally optional, and you can quit doing it at any time. When you pledge, you will be charged once per month, and you can cancel when you want. You can read more in the FAQ here if you have questions about how the money part works.

What are the tiers about?

Tiers are rewards in a way, saying thank you for your support! I have a few simple tiers. Note that for any tier, you can enter a custom amount to pledge, at your comfort level. For example, if you wish to pledge $3 instead of $1 for the Filoplume level, you may do so.

Filoplume ($1+): This tier acts like a reoccurring tip jar. You'll get access to my journals (life updates), and finished works. Though I have always shared much of my finished work online, this pledge helps support me very much, especially in the extra time and effort it takes to get good images of my traditional media online to share.
Semiplume ($5+): This tier is where your support starts to allow me to buy art supplies. You'll get access to journals (life updates), finished, works, all my digital content including WIPs (Works In Progress... often step by step), sketchbook scans, some higher resolution images, and first dibs on any art I have coming up for sale whenever possible... before I release it to the general public/my web shop.
Flight Feather ($10+): Patrons at this tier (or any higher custom amount you enter) make a huge impact on my artwork by keeping me stocked in supplies. You'll get access to journals (life updates), finished, works, all my digital content including WIPs (Works In Progress... often step by step), sketchbook scans, some higher resolution images, and first dibs on any art I have coming up for sale whenever possible... before I release it to the general public/my web shop. Additionally, I will list your name as a special thank you on my website (unless you wish to remain anonymous) to the tune of "Many of these artworks were made possible by: _____".

I want to support you, but would prefer to buy art.

That's totally reasonable! I do have an online shop, and that sort of support is always most welcome! Here's my online storefront.

I want to support you, but don't want to do a monthly pledge.

Thank you! If Patreon isn't a model that you like, I also have a Ko-Fi account. Ko-Fi is sort of like an online tip jar or way of saying "thanks" but is not a subscription pledge like Patreon is. Any support is genuinely appreciated.

What do you do with the money?

Any gain from Patreon will be applied toward creating new works, buying art supplies, doing stuff to keep my computer running (for digital art), and sometimes for necessities such as food when money is tight. Specifically, it will give me a little financial "breathing room" to create more personal pieces. Personal artworks are not done on commission and can be a bit risky for a full-time artist, because there is no guarantee that I will ever see a return on them. In my ideal world, I wouldn't have to rely on modern consumerism as connected to my work... but, the financial reality means that I must make ends meet if I wish to continue making art as a full time career. When I am supported by folks like you, it gives me a little more time to make things that might or might not earn me any money, and that is a beautiful thing! I often make personal artwork for habitat and animal conservation issues (see above), so that I can spread the love.

My painting of Hooded Mergansers at a duck stamp competition; I never would have been able to do this without support from people that believed in me! Thank you so much!
