I've been touring for a little over 15 years now, have seen most of the continental United States and have realized the dream of becoming BIG IN GERMANY. It's been wild ride, full of wonderful and memorable experiences but also fraught with the stress and insecurity that comes from being self-employed. I've struggled for years to try and figure out a way to support myself when I'm not touring, and I think it's something a lot of touring musicians wrestle with. We're kind of uniquely qualified for this very specialized line of work that requires an enormous (and joyful) investment of time and dedication behind the scenes, but that only pays when we're on stage.

But really the most important part is having the time and space to create a new body of work, isn't it? To chase down ideas, to coax them out of the ether and let them take shape, curate them and eventually train them into a tangible form where they can be shared whether it's as an album, a download, a stream, a video or a live show. Without a song none of the rest is possible.

To be honest, I've struggled for a little while about whether or not to start a Patreon page - as a recovering Irish Catholic I'm pretty hard-wired to not ask for help in any form. But I have to admit that I create really well in a space where I don't have to waste mental energy worrying about having my basic needs met. So if you're able, I invite you to extend a gentle offer of support that will lower my stress level, make it possible to find a space to create in and have the added bonus of reminding me that what I do is meaningful and appreciated. You'd be surprised how often artists need to hear that.

In exchange, I'll be uploading something new each month - either a video, a demo of some things I've been working on, a blog entry, a song tutorial or my latest batch of jokes and puns. I created some tiers, but really everyone has access to everything, I just wanted to make a way to give whatever feels comfortable.
