We are Nathan and Naomi Bird.
Nathan sings. Naomi plays piano.  We love to do music together.

We have noticed something among our fans. Whether their bodies are young or aging, they all join us in being very comfortable claiming to have an "old soul." Our music is like a bridge connecting generations that offer each other an exchange of wisdom, vitality, profound respect, and encouragement. Our style is of simple, sincere solos. Sacred vs. Secular aren’t lines that we tend to draw firmly. Our spirit is one of sharing mostly traditional music – hymns, art song, musical theater, jazz, opera, old American popular music, and a little original composition mixed in.

Years of music training and specific personal experiences with dear older relatives are merging into a mission that we are eager to develop: cultivating meaningful connections between generations and using our music to enrich the lives of older adults.

Whether through original songs or songs written by others, we hope what we present and how we share it will give our readers and our listeners a moment of thoughtfulness and feelingfulness and refreshment.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We create recordings of songs that old souls love and write articles about them.We call this SongNotes from the Birds.

We compile these monthly collections into CDs and PDFs, printed and sent to people who need or prefer to not be on electronics.  It’s like a CD-of-the-month, plus a magazine.

We perform together at senior facilities.
Good old-fashioned hymn sings, with a few of our solos splashed in, are our favorite kinds of events.

We perform concerts at homes and other venues for patrons and guests. This personal style is perfect for the acoustic and simple nature of our music.

As part of our music career, we also do the following:

Nathan sings as a soloist around the Twin Cities for various events, collaborates with other musicians to produce concerts, directs a church choir, and teaches voice lessons. Naomi accompanies ballet classes, plays for special events, and is a church organist. Together we perform full concerts at senior facilities, lead worship services, and have been delivering our SongNotes recordings and articles as a digital subscription publication.
