I struggled with the idea of adding Patreon (a feature that gives fans the ability to offer financial support) to the site for a while. But, I'd love to continue pursuing this dream and to be perfectly honest, I'd love if this project could also help pay the bills (free products in exchange for posts and amazon gift card commission for affiliate links only go so far...).

If you enjoy and find value in my weekly posts, I'd very much appreciate your support via patronage!

For $5/month, you'll have access to extra posts, printable checklists, and behind the scenes info. For $10/month, you'll be able to contact me with your decor/styling/home organization questions at [email protected] I'm a pro at shelf styling, gallery wall configuration, and finding clever ways to add storage to a room. If you send me some pics, I'd love to help you out!

If you want a little background on how came to be, read on:

I've always been jealous of people who love their jobs and feel like they're not actually working when they're at work. I didn't think that would ever be possible for me until I started as a side gig to my medical career.

I'm a quiet person who likes to be in her own head most of the time. In retrospect, becoming a family physician was probably the not the wisest career choice. I appreciate the privilege of being able to take part in patients' lives in such a meaningful way. But, being an introvert, each patient I see throughout the day drains my social tank until I have nothing left by the end of the day. Five years into practice, I resigned myself to the fact that this was just the way it was going to be.

Then my son was born. After mat leave, I went back part-time at three days per week. The plan was to scale back up to a full work week after few months. But, that never happened. I realized I'd never been happier (or at least, less miserable) in my medical career.

Working less than my colleagues has meant making less, a lot less, than every other doctor I know. So, we live a humbler, simpler life than most other doctors' families. I appreciate that we're still much more fortunate than many. But, I felt guilty about not living up to my earning potential for our family. So, I decided I'd pick up a 'side gig' on my days off. How millennial, right???

But, what to do?

I'm an introvert and a very visual person, who loves styling and organizing our home. So, I decided to start a home decor blog. It wasn't long before I realized this wasn't going to contribute significantly to our income, but the important thing was that I enjoyed doing it and it provided a much needed escape from my clinical work.

So, that's how was born in 2018. I've been spending my two weekdays off per week working diligently on this passion project and my goal for 2020 is to get more serious about monetizing the blog. So, I'm going to give this Patreon thing a shot :).
