Hello. I'm the Nerdwriter, but you can call me Evan.

The Nerdwriter is a weekly web series that aims to cultivate
worldview.
I think those two words sum up the project nicely. Worldview is a particular philosophy of life. It suggests a commitment to the well-rounded individual, to the intellectual life. At The Nerdwriter, we follow the advice of Voltaire and "cultivate our gardens."

That's a bit existential to start, isn't it?
I'll keep it simple. My name is Evan Puschak. I studied film production at Boston University and I've been making videos as The Nerdwriter since 2011. Early on, my video on The K.I.N.D. Fund ended up getting me a job at MSNBC, so I moved to New York City. Three years later, The Discovery Channel asked me to move to San Francisco, and write/host a show on their digital network called Seeker Daily.
After launching a successful show for Discovery, I left to pursue The Nerdwriter full time. I've never been happier.

The Nerdwriter covers a wide variety of topics. I believe life is philosophical, political, moral, psychological, financial, artistic, scientific, and that what is worth knowing is worth entwining into a comprehensive web. Past topics include Bookstores, The Diderot Effect, Free Will, Video Games, Social Media, Kintsugi and Reddit.
I also do a series called Understanding Art, where I give in-depth analyses of artworks -- films, paintings, poems, etc.

I release a video every Wednesday, so no more than once a week.

All donations go into The Nerdwriter project – into equipment, software and, most importantly, time to research, write, film and edit.
Here’s my normal schedule: it takes days to a couple weeks to research and write a video (usually have a few going at a time). It takes a day to film, and 8-10 hours (spread out over 3 days) to edit.
Every dollar given to this projects frees me up a little more to focus on making the best content I can.

Yeah – THANK YOU!! The Nerdwriter wouldn't be possible without you. It's an interactive project. I spend the days following the release of each video interacting with you in comments and on Tumblr. For me, that's the best part. That engagement, more than anything else, more than the videos themselves, reflects what The Nerdwriter is.
