National Flash Fiction Day is a celebration of flash fiction in all its forms.  We're based in the UK but welcome writers, readers and flash aficionados from around the world.

We promote flash fiction each year with:

  • An anthology of flash fiction from established and emerging writers worldwide
  • An online journal, Flash Flood, which published a new piece of flash every 10 minutes (or less!) on National Flash Fiction Day
  • A mass online writing event called The Write-In in which we present one flash fiction prompt each hour on National Flash Fiction Day (and publish the results in the days following)
  • A live event on National Flash Fiction Day which includes workshops, panels and readings of flash fiction, as well as the launch of the annual anthology
  • A website and community that promotes flash fiction events around the UK (and we're more than happy to promote international events as well)

We are a volunteer-run initiative which aims to promote a welcoming, inclusive community for flash fiction writers around the world, no matter what level of experience.

We rely on the support of volunteers and donors to keep National Flash Fiction Day alive and accessible to all.  Thank you so much for visiting, and for your support in whatever form that takes!
