Hey there Wonderbomb!

Welcome to my Patreon page. I figure that you might have some questions for me.

What are you and what do you do?
I'm Nicole and I make stuff. Usually that stuff is made out of words:  poems, essays, pop culture critique, fiction, and writing prompts for other poets. I also love talking about writing and all thing nerdy

Sometimes that stuff is not exactly made out of words, but is still... wordy:  erasure poem artvideos, collages, and a for over a decade I helped organize a monthly poetry reading.

Still have questions? Here, what I do the most: perform a poetry...   ... but I'm really excited to do more.

What am I Supporting with my Monthly Subscription?
Any thing that you contribute here will go towards making stuff and meeting financial obligations so I have more time (and tools!) to make more stuff.

Put simply, time.

It takes a lot of it to write, edit, and revise. Making videos (which I hope to do a lot more of) is a pretty slow process. On top of that personal art, offer (free!) writing prompts every April (national poetry month), intermittently host a (free!) women's writing group, and I ry to be active and present in my community. I think that it's important to cultivate a community of artists and I am committed to keeping the community inclusive; I don't want anyone not attending a poetry show because they couldn't afford the cover or not writing because they could afford to by a how-to book.

That said, I live in a world where things are expensive. As an artist, I'm faced with the hard truth that every hour I spend working overtime to make ends meet is time I can't afford to spend making art and/or serving my community.  That's where you can come in and why I'm on Patreon.

Why Patreon?
Patreon is like an ongoing Kickstarter. Instead of supporting one product or event, you sponsor me and my work with a monthly amount that you set yourself.

You can make a huge difference in the amount of time and the quality of materials I use for as little as $1 per month.

Don’t worry; you can cancel, downgrade, or upgrade your support at any point. If you're still have questions about the how the financial part works, Patreon’s FAQ section has got the answers you need.

What Do I get Out of It?
Besides that heartwarming feeling of knowing that you are a kickass patron of the arts?

First, let's talk about something. If I invited you to my house for a potluck dinner, we’d break bread together whether you brought one biscuit, a cake, or nothing. So it seems counterintuitive to not do that here.

So, if you contribute, you get access to the feed – whether you contribute $1 or $20 or $1000. That’s not because I don’t appreciate capitalism and the price of time and art supplies, but because I understand percentages and I’d rather you were here with me. And if a dollar is your way of doing that, awesome. If $20 is, that’s awesome, too.

Scroll down to the perks and pick the one that feels right for you.

If you can’t become a Patreon supporter of my art right now, you can still visit my website, make a one-time donation, and/or share this page - or my other online haunts - with people who might dig what I do.

Either way, thank you for stopping by.  You can get to know me and what I do better at  nicolehomer.com and of course in the wide wide world of the internet where I occasionally say short things and share my view of the world

Thanks, you amazing do-gooder. Sometimes, in the summer, I like to go to the beach and get hot and sweaty and then walk to edge of the water and let my feet get wet. Yeah, your support feels refreshing like that. Spoiler alert, there's a prompt in your inbox.

What is up, you tornado of hallelujah? You know how people say "I wish you were here"? Well I do. And to prove it, I'm sending you a postcard... from my soul. Metaphorically. In reality, it'll be from the USPS... and my soul.

I see you, miracle in a human’s body. I see you, carnival of light and sound. I see you, wonderbomb. Thank you for seeing me.
Soon, you're going to see your name in the credits of any movie I make. And you'll see a copy of my book Pecking Order in your mailbox.
Cake Eaters

Um... what?! Are you serious? [faints]     After I get the smelling salts, I'm gonna email you a series of linked writing prompts designed to produce a suite of poems. You email them back to me and I'll offer you feedback. And maybe a cake I'm kidding; there won't be any cake. Except in my heart. But there will definitely a copy of Pecking Order in your mailbox.
Goals
$24 of $25 per month
Once we hit this goal, I'll post weekly writing prompts in the Patrons-only feed.
