Hello everyone!

I'm Nikki Fernandez and I am a 30 year old artist. I've been wanting to be an artist ever since I was in 4th grade. I was that kid who had sticker sand art for gifts, bought paint-by-the-numbers kits and origami classes in the summer. I just love making things. As I got older, my creativity grew in my love for music, writing and singing but art has always been my go-to outlet to express myself.

I love being artist but I've had my ups and downs in my identity especially when I was a painting major in college. I was very conscious of my style and I had the tendency to feel inferior when I was surrounded by so many talented artists. My confidence was quite low back then. Fast forward to 6 years later. I just let life happen after graduation. I Found work as a freelance graphic artist and married my 8 year boyfriend at the time.

When I began my working phase, I put my traditional art on the side and opted for the more lucrative graphic work but I just didn't feel the satisfaction of making art anymore. I was just doing it for the income and responsibilities. Now that life is a lot more stable and I can manage my time better, I'm giving my art another shot. I've learned how lonely and lost it is to stop doing a thing you love.

Change had to start with me. I got sick and tired of envying all these artists doing what they love. So I jumped into making art again. I had to ignore the fear that I was not good enough, that my art won't mean anything and just make art because that's what I wanted. I just wanted to be an artist. Screw style, screw my fears and screw the fact that maybe no one will my buy my work.

Real action came when I committed to inktober2016. It would be the first time, in a long time to commit to my dream. Making art everyday was a big challenge to me. I was battling laziness, procrastination and work but once it was over, I knew I am an artist and I had the ability to make good art if I really try. After a week rest, I realized I needed to keep daily drawing or I'd lose the motivation to follow my dream again.

So here I am in patreon to help further my dream into reality. I want to become a full-time artist. I want develop my craft and see where it's going to take me. I have a simple goal which is to earn at least $500 a month from patrons. This will cover all my bills and responsibilities, my freelancing is supplementing now.

Once you become my patron, you get join an exclusive facebook group where we can talk and  you get to see exclusive behind the scenes of the making of art in google hangout.

I'd like to give special thanks to the ICONMANILA2016 workshop I attended in September where I met and got to know Disney illustrators. They helped me rekindle my passion for art. I want to thank my husband, family and friends who've given me unconditional support and encouragement. I also want to express my gratitude for all the my art teachers in real life and online, as well as the hundreds of artists I look up to for inspiration and teaching me to be better artist. I would not be the person I am today without you.

2019 is really looking optimistic and fun for me.
