Hello!!
My name is Aaron Kilborn [also known as Nikolai McFist] artist of the comics Charles & Viktor, Ryu's Krew, Frogabond and more! I'm sure you haven't heard of any of these, but hopefully either after this, or one day, you will!

I take pride in my unique art style. My biggest strength, I believe, is cartoon action. While my biggest weakness is, I've been horribly inconsistent. But I'm always striving and working to improve every step of the way! That in mind, I took my comic, Charles & Viktor, that maybe updated 30 or so times last year alone, and decided that for whatever reason I was going to update EVERY SINGLE DAY. This may very well backfire and be the worst idea I've ever had. It probably is. I've had several. But I like momentum, and by imposing a stricter schedule like that, I feel incredibly motivated to push myself harder than I ever have before. To not only create comics, but get better as I go.

SO I tried the updating every day thing, and to my credit, I did manage to do so for about 3 weeks! Working and posting a page every single day. As I said, it was bound to backfire at some point, but I really wanted to test myself and see if I REALLY could do it. The official update schedule now is SATURDAYS. After much deliberation, I decided that it's best to drop the update schedule down to something I know for a fact I can manage. One guaranteed page a week, so you know when to visit the site (charlesandviktor.com)! The idea for Patreon now, is to open ALL posts to anybody who becomes a Patron for $1!!! I'm currently changing up my process to be all digital, instead of inking on paper, scanning it, etc. This method has been much faster, and I feel has been much better quality as well. I'm going to be posting pages in progress as I get them done, with the intention of having a decent buffer (and you get to read ahead!). Eventually delving into sketches/concepts for the stories I'm working on, and maybe if I can come up with some other cool ideas, that too!

So what kinds of things can you expect on this Patreon? How often will you update?

+ Penciled versions of pages (with dialogue) before the day they go up! My penciled pages can be rather rough/loose, but you can still absolutely see a majority of the foundation of what the final page will look like!
+ Inked versions of pages before the day they go up! My inks, in my opinion, aside from my colors, is where my work shines. I put a lot of love into my inking and have a blast doing it!
+ FINISHED pages before the day they go up!
+ Sketches (design stuff for comics, random drawings, etc)
+ WIPs of other drawings I'm working on!

Ideally, with this, I'll try to stay at least 5 pages ahead of schedule. But that's going to take a lot of working ahead to get to that point quite yet! The things I post aren't necessarily set in stone, either. The basic should always be the pencils/inks/colors ahead of time, but I might find different things I could do and add on to make it more worth your while!! I'm thinking of doing Youtube videos of me possibly working on the comic to include as well! As far as how often, ideally that will ALSO be at least one post per day. I don't want to sit here and say for absolute certain, but that is a standard I will do my best to uphold.

What ARE my comics?

Charles & Viktor: is a cartoony, action adventure comic that has both single 'episodes' and 'story arcs'. Welcome to the planet BUH! Home of King Apples, the incredibly powerful Pyramid Star, and Sgt. Lollipops, the greatest hero of all! Charles & Viktor have crash landed on BUH, due to an encounter with the evil CHUMPNAUT! With no idea where they are, or any way to get back home, they manage to find none other than Sgt. Lollipops who takes them to King Apples, leader of BUH. King Apples knew of their distress and in turn offers home, food, and root beer in exchange for helping Sgt. Lollipops fight crime around the planet. Charles & Viktor know that the Chumpnaut isn't gone for good...so they need all the training they can get before he shows back up!!

Frogabond: is another cartoony action adventure comic, but this time dealing with two frog brothers, Oog and Gah, as they go around the world having fun, collecting treasures, and helping a giant mustached walrus with an army of armed flies fight against a giant army of space squids!! I'm really excited to eventually get back to work on this one. I did a version of it before, but it wasn't quite what I thought I wanted for it. So it's been on the back burner since.

and finally...

Ryu's Krew: my oldest comic. It's completely different than the other two, almost opposite in a lot of regard. Intended to be more serious, melancholy almost in tone, and dealing with topics like depression, anxiety, and psychosis. Depending on the route I'm going to take with this one, I'm going to have to put up quite a few trigger warnings just because of the sort of story I want to tell. So Ryu's Krew is about a trio of underdogs (they're all cat people though, so that was awful) whom suddenly find themselves thrust in a situation where they either fight, or perish. Fighting against an antagonistic trio of ancient demons that are part of an ancient prophecy of the end of the universe. As the demons bring forth incredibly powerful demonic entities known as the Colossi to collect the Great Heroes' Souls' necessary to resurrect a dead god. Armed with new android bodies, and energy weapons powered by the souls of the previous user, it's up to Ryu, Draycho and Archound to stop the Colossi from gathering the souls, or it's the end of everything as we know it!

I have other comics and projects as well, but those are my main 3! The biggest focus right now being Charles & Viktor.

If you enjoy my work, or maybe if either of those other stories sound like something up your alley, feel free to join me here on Patreon, starting at $1+! If you can't afford it, but still want to show your support? No worries! Just go ahead and share my Patreon link (http://patreon.com/nikolaimcfist) with whoever you think might be interested in my work and would be interested in becoming a Patron! Or if you don't like my work and you're still reading this, I'm sorry! You should still share my link though, because that would be cool!

That being said, I want to thank each and every one of you. Those who are donating right now, those who have donated in the past, and even those reading this. I know in the past, I have shown rather poor performance as far as page output and quality. Updates used to range from week to week, to month, to every other month..not to mention the few times I have taken my comic(s) down. I've dealt with some things in the past that started to change me, I became really bitter and quiet and I didn't understand it. I was overly stressed all the time, I was getting physically ill all the time. But through a lot of self reflection, isolation, and just getting to drawing, I managed to make all of those awful feelings go away. I no longer get sick every day. I no longer feel so stressed. I'm just happy, and I'm drawing. And that's the way it always should've been.
