My name is Maria and I live on 25 acres in the mountains of North Carolina with my family. I produce a podcast about knitting, natural dyeing, ecoprinting, and the DIY stuff I'm doing around the homestead (soap making, gardening, chicken and bee keeping, herbal remedies, and more). I keep myself very busy in a little wedding cake shaped house that we built with our own hands. And I love sharing it all with you!
I began my career in the field of holistic medicine as a nurse-herbalist creating remedies, teaching herbal medicine, and running an herbal clinic & apothecary. I picked up knitting as a hobby over 20 years ago and my love of all things wooly steered me down the career path to fiber arts. I tried for many years to fit myself into a certain mold, but working 9-5 didn't make me happy. I've found that when my hands are in the dirt my spirit feels light. My passion for herbs and wool merged into what I do today, and I couldn't be happier. It gives me the opportunity to create, explore, teach, travel, experiment, get my hands in the dirt, and podcast!
