Hi! I'm Erin, a writer of stories across the various speculative fiction genres - visions of the almost future, sideways glimpses into magic realms, and quick trips into the land of the horrifyingly possible - usually starring Black women (write what you know!).

My Bonafides: I write both prose and interactive stories and have been published in places like Clarkesworld, Asimov's, sub-Q MagazineThe Dark, The Best Science Fiction of the Year Volume 4, and the Year's Best Dark Fantasy & Horror 2019. I learned everything I know from my stints at Gotham Writers' Workshop, Odyssey Workshop, and the Stonecoast MFA program, my awesome writer friends, and reading great stories. I'm honored to have won the Speculative Literature Foundation's Diverse Worlds and Diverse Writers Awards in 2017 and an Individual Artist Award from the Maryland State Arts Council in 2019.

The Sales Pitch: So what do you get from being my Patron? Well, you push me to write more so that I have more to share with you - I'll give you some peeks inside my writing brain as I build up my story bucket list, tackle worldbuilding without notes, share thoughts about how game writing works, give tips about what I'm doing to try to balance my freelancing life with my writing life, and work on longer pieces.

Credit Where Credit Is Due: The amazing artwork in my Patreon page header is the work of three wonderful artists who did commissioned artwork for my short fiction - from left to right they are Cara DiGirolamo (for Sour Milk Girls), Grace P. Fong (for The Grays of Cestus V), and Sarah A. Macklin (for Snake Season).
Tiers
Photo Evidence
$1 or more per month

Want proof that I'm actually writing? These pictures of my writing life won't prove anything, but they will be fun and may include things like my garden, my cat, and my travels. I promise to relate each of them to my current writing process in a labored metaphor.

My Creative Bucket List
$2 or more per month

Curious what random ideas are floating around in the back of my mind? I  keep a list (aka scattered notes kept across 15 notebooks, a chalkboard, and an online note-keeper) of worldbuilding thoughts, random first lines, character sketches, etc. Each post at this tier will look at one of these and where I think it might go/end up in my writing.

All The (Writing) Things
$5 or more per month

See how the sausage is made! I'll post a bit of a story (interactive or prose) I have currently in progress and how I'm working on making it better.

Ideas and Randomings
$10 or more per month

I have thoughts - lots of them. And often I mean to blog about them, but don't have the time for a polished thoughtpiece. That's where this tier comes in - a few thoughts in progress about something that intrigues me in the writing community or about the writing process. Usually I save these for when I'm on panels, but now you can get them in the comfort of your inbox!

Goals
$13 of $500 per month
If I reach $500 a month, I will start writing Obsidian Bay, a science-fiction serial soap opera, and publish an episode per month for my Patrons.

I am probably the only one who wants this to happen, but that's okay. :)
