On behalf of The Change Makers... A warm welcome from Rúna Magnús and Nicholas Haines the co-creators of the #NoMoreBoxes Movement.

Lions and Tigers and… Boxes?

Imagine that you’ve gone to sleep – and when you wake up, you find yourself living tens of thousands of years in the past. You have a tribe to call your own, and you’re living in a lush jungle or in an open, grassy plain – or even in a land of ice and snow.

This is the beginning of the Story of Boxes.

At that time you had to find a way quickly identify what was food, and what was a predator, who was a friend and who was your enemy. So, you developed a skill or a habit of putting things, animals and people into mental “Boxes”.

Putting everything and everyone into ‘Boxes’ allowed you to make sense of the world, protected you and had advantages.

When the love affair goes wrong

Fast forward to the modern day and we have expanded the use of “Boxes” into every area of society and daily life, and they still allow us to make sense of the world and assess information for potential danger and advantage.

But Boxes are also doing incredible harm - to you, me and society!

Have you ever heard someone say “Men are like this” or “Women are like that”

Or the latest “Millennials think this way”

That’s putting people into Boxes, and it immediately limits them to their Box.

What if you’re a woman, and collaboration isn't your style? Or a man and all you want to do is care and collaborate?

Or you’re a Millennial and you don’t live on your phone?

And the list goes on and on…
Putting people into boxes limit us all in terms of who we are and what we can become.

Boxes are no longer serving us!

The Darker and even more Destructive Side to Boxes?

Boxes also have a far darker side and more destructive side too.

Boxes can lead to disrespect, isolation and arguments because they cause division. Boxes more often than not divide us - often artificially - instead of uniting us on a common ground.

Being in a Box often makes it more likely that we'll defend our position and fight for what we have decided is true. And can cause isolation and fear for those that don’t fit in our Box.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

But not all Boxes are bad or ugly, some are amazing!

What about a sisterhood, a brotherhood or a group of people who want to feel safe together because they don’t feel or believe they belong to any gender.

Or people that want to get together to pray, dance or debate?

Boxes come in all shapes and sizes and some are Good, Bad and Ugly.

Increasing Awareness and Starting a BIG Conversation

We believe that we need to increase awareness and to all have a BIG Conversation about Boxes, and what they’re doing to us individually and collectively.

To have a conversation to explore the boxes that serve us, and to escape or break down the boxes that are destructive, limiting or downright ugly!

And to have a conversation with children so they don’t fall into the Boxes we’re already in.

To facilitate a discussion between young parents who want to explore in an open and relaxed way, what it is to be a man or a woman and their shared roles. Or what is to be parents of the same gender or no fixed gender.

To open the conversation between generations, where no one is trapped in a way of thinking or expected to conform to a stereotype.

A conversation with ourselves to explore the Boxes we put ourselves and others in.

We want to have individual, local and global conversations about Boxes - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and liberate ourselves from boxes that no longer serve us or cause isolation and division.

And that’s where you come in.

Patrons, Supporters and Great Ideas

First of all, we’d love to hear what you think. What are your thoughts and ideas about what we’ve shared and how to create more awareness around Boxes?

https://www.nomoreboxesmovement.com/contact

Since we are guided by the mantra of being the change we wish to see in the world, we know that we have to also lead by example.

So, this is what we have done so far and have in the pipeline - and where we need your help.

We (Rúna Magnús and Nicholas Haines) have written a book - Story of Boxes, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly - (launch date: 11.11.18) – which we’d love to give you a copy of.

We’ve also run what we’re calling #NoMoreBoxes Breakfast Clubs™ in Iceland, London, Nottingham and with more planned in New York, Malta and Atlanta.

The purpose of a #NoMoreBoxes Breakfast Clubs™ is to facilitate and create a safe space to understand and explore the consequences of placing people into boxes and to co-create the future vision for change in the world. The subject discussed at these first international #NoMoreBoxes Breakfast Clubs was the Gender Box, as that seemed a good place to start.

What came out of these first Breakfast Clubs was first of all, that they made a massive difference to the people that attended, and that we should run more of them.

This is what Molly Bedingfield, President & CEO of Global Angel Foundations said after an event in London

“The #NoMoreBoxes Breakfast Club connected me to some fascinating people from all walks of life in a safe non-judging atmosphere perfect for respectful and open discussion.
Personally, I would love to attend another breakfast with Nick and Runa as facilitators and hope the Club springs up all over the world.”

And, there’s the problem!

We can’t run all the breakfast clubs we need to see or have in the world, and we shouldn’t be attempting to do that. They should be run in local areas, by local people. Or in schools, the workplace, local community areas and in homes up and down the country, by people like you.

We’re looking for Patrons, who understand the impact Boxes are having on society, or people that want to be personally liberated and set free from what is holding them back. People who are willing to contribute a small amount to money each month to help produce the materials and support the infrastructure needed to run #NoMoreBoxes Breakfast Clubs anywhere that needs them, with no barriers to entry based on wealth or privilege.
Would you be willing to do that?

Becoming a Patron

Becoming a Patron of the #NoMoreBoxes couldn’t be simpler.

All you need to do is contribute $3 plus per month.

In return, not only will you be a helping change lives, but we’ll also give a copy of the Story of Boxes, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly which will guide you through - in very practical steps - how to escape your own limiting Boxes.

Plus as an early adopter - and here right at the beginning - you’ll be first in line to use these materials and with training, to run your own #NoMoreBoxes Breakfast Club™ - should you choose.*

Having run #NoMoreBoxes Breakfast Clubs™ ourselves they are great fun, a great way to meet people face to face and make a massive difference.

To become a Patron of the #NoMoreBoxes Movement just click the red button that says BECOME A PATRON and we'll see you in the Patrons Area  - did we say there was a patrons area with a few extra surprises? Well, there is...

With best wishes from Rúna Magnús and Nicholas Haines
