About No Proscenium

No Proscenium: The Guide to Everything Immersive is made possible by our incredible Patreon backers.

NoPro is a podcast, a website, newsletters, a Slack, and a dessert topping. Okay, maybe not the last one. Not yet, anyway.

For nearly SIX years now NoPro has been the herald of the immersive renaissance: an independent media voice chronicling a renaissance in art & entertainment.

Starting in Los Angeles, and then expanding to New York City and beyond, we've covered immersive theatreescape roomshauntsexperimental live-action gamesvirtual realitytheme parks and whatever else our curators find fascinating.

2020: LEVEL UP

In 2020 we’re taking NoPro to the next level, combining the work that we’re doing with the HERE Summit to create a non-profit institution we intend to stand the test of time.

This has been the dream all along: to build a community resource that can be to the growing immersive arts what Sundance has been to independent film.

To get there we need your continued support.

We started this Patreon in order to create the podcast, and now over 200 episodes later, we have hundreds of backers who have brought us this far.

To reach our goal we need to reach higher than we ever have before: we’re looking to hit 1000 backers at the $5 or above level.

Independent media is at a crossroads, with more ad-driven alternative papers and websites going under all the time. With the direct support of the community, we serve we can build a future worth dreaming of.

While everything we listed above is free and available to the public, Patreon wouldn't be Patreon without some backer exclusives. Which is where The Irregular comes in.

This is a Patreon-only podcast feed that's a combination of loose, off-the-cuff, on the fly think pieces and early access to exclusive interviews. The Irregular will be just that: irregular. When there's breaking news, or we've seen an awesome show, we'll launch a quick episode. A "first draft of history" that can happen at any time.

Whether you’re looking on behalf of a corporation, small business, or are an individual looking to make a big impact, the Summit can use your support. Sponsorship impacts not just the Summit, but the emerging non-profit. (Note: sponsorship is currently not tax-deductible.) Contact: Contact: [email protected] to see our sponsor deck.

In the past year I’ve had the honor of consulting -- in ways big and small -- on a series of awesome projects including Tender Claws’ The Under Presents, Hanzon Studio’s Camp Christmas, and Siobhan O’Laughlin’s crowdfunding campaign for her upcoming Broken Bone Bathtub documentary. All projects that couldn’t be more different.

The top backer tiers come with consultation time baked in, but I can also be hired on an hourly basis. The rates are on a sliding scale based on the project and ability to pay. Fair warning: the second you hire me is the second I stop being able to write about you. NoPro can and will cover the end result, but I’ll have no editorial input in that work. If you are interested, email me directly: [email protected].

Minimum Wage For Noah

At $2400, our founder and publisher will now be making Minimum Wage each month for the work he does across the podcast, newsletters, and social channels.

This means we will be able to extend our "all-pro" runway a little further, with Noah spending more time on the site (and volunteering in the community) and less freelancing.
