WHAT IS "NO SMALL PARTS"?
It's a fan-made documentary web-series about character actors in the entertainment industry. You know, those actors with faces you know you've seen, but you're not sure where.

Most of the episodes are comprehensive biographies of a particular actor, but some are a little off the beaten path. Sometimes I'll focus on one particular topic, a performance in a film I liked, or I'll conduct an interview with an actor I really enjoy. Every episode is made with one goal in mind: to shed some light on Hollywood's lesser-known talents.

WHO ARE YOU AND WHY DO YOU MAKE THIS?
My name is Brandon Hardesty, and I'm a 28-year-old actor in Los Angeles, California. I'm originally from Baltimore, MD. In 2006, I started uploading videos to YouTube in my spare time. My channel eventually grew in popularity enough that I got cast in an independent film, and through that, I started being represented by a manager and an agent for acting work.

Fast-forward to 2015: it's been a wild ride. Some years are good, some are slow. One thing I've learned is that I don't go out for the same roles as most actors do. I'm a heavier guy. I've been told I look a lot like Jonah Hill or Josh Gad. I learned that I am a character actor, and until I sweat to the oldies and lose a good fifty pounds or so, I've accepted my place in the Hollywood hierarchy.

One thing that I love about working is that I get to talk to other character actors and hear their stories about the business. I identify with them, probably because I look at them and see my future.

"No Small Parts" came out of this desire to learn more about character actors. I would watch movies and see the same faces pop up, but realized that I didn't know anything about them. A big reason for this is that they've never gotten their own "Biography" show, or an "E! True Hollywood Story." That's when I decided I wanted to give them their due and really examine their entire life and career as if they were A-Listers, because that's how I see them.

WHY PATREON?
I truly believe that "No Small Parts" is a show that can't really exist in today's market. The episodes are usually long (between 20-30 minutes for a full episode), and with the existence of apps like Vine or Instagram, the average Internet viewer has the attention span of a potato. I know this because I used to make videos to cater to a low-attention span, and I was pretty good at it.

I went into making "No Small Parts" knowing that I can't monetize it in any way. The material I'm using is copyright footage, sometimes copyright music (all for educational and critique purposes), so there's no studio in its right mind that would spend the money to secure rights to clips from over 100 different sources. I can't put ads on videos (although there are some ads already, but it all goes to the third-parties that matched the copyright content). It's a show that can only exist on the Internet, and it's a show that can't really be made unless someone's passionate about the subject matter, which I am.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU RELEASE EPISODES?
I write and edit each episode myself. It's a long process. First, I try to find footage of every project the actor was involved in. I'll then sit and watch them all so as to properly understand the context of their character in the film, as well as understand the evolution of their career over the years. Then, I'll edit everything. It's time-consuming, but I love every minute of it. It takes 1-2 months for me to finish an episode, mostly because I'm spending my time working to pay the bills, auditioning, and going to an acting class every week. Right now, my life is about working around the schedule of my job and making episodes in my free time.

HOW CAN WE HELP?
The only way this show can continue to thrive is through viewer support, and really, I'm happy that people are simply watching this stuff. The fact that I actually have a decent amount of subscribers watching the videos is amazing to me, and a comment or a "thumbs-up" on something I've put this much work into means so much more than a "haha funy" comment on a Strange Faces video.

If you like "No Small Parts" and you're willing to support it with a donation, know that you're helping me create episodes at a better pace, and also a better quality. I don't like to feel rushed when I'm working on these videos. I take my time to make sure they're the way I want them to be. The more time I can take out of my days to focus on them, the better they'll be. The ultimate goal would be to slowly wean myself off of my current part-time job and work on "No Small Parts" full time.

THANK YOU!
