Dear Patron,

Being a full-time artist and creator can be difficult when you fund your own projects, as any creative person will testify. The work you see here has all been funded out of my own pocket and made possible through: trade, generous participation and donations from the actors and patrons, like you.

What is Queer Cinema? Queer Cinema is broad in it's definition and theory, no one definition is correct or incorrect - all points of view are valid - Basically it is cinema that challenges preconceived notions of identity in relation to gender, sexuality and belonging. My belief is that film (and the arts in general) have the power to create positive reactive change when the audience is challenged by the images and themes they are witness to so long as those themes empower the viewer to use their own senses and imagination to move from suffering into love. In my theory everybody is queer by nature only when social conditioning is imposed onto the queer psyche and body (during our formative years) do we fracture from the wholeness of queer being and attach stigma to our physical and emotional selves.

My Queer Cinema is an attempt to bring us back into our queerness, asking us to dissolve the stigma and transmute our perception through spiritual solidarity made possible through love and compassion for one another. We perceive to be different from one another, on a basic level there is truth to that belief, however at the root we are more alike than we are different. My work emphasizes that kindred part in each of us that needs to connect on a social/spiritual/sexual/creative level.

My goal in using Patreon is to create an outlet where my films are funded by the people who watch and believe in the emphasis previously mentioned. Through your generosity and support we have the opportunity to reach a broader audience with our message of queer inclusivity by keeping it free to all. Your contributions will allow for my content to stay independent, fresh, free and active while opposing capitalistic values by using them to subversively change a corrupt system collaboratively from within; The people expressing themselves by funding the work of eachother v. corporate meddling. I look forward to working with you and making films that honor your contribution and imagine a better world for all, a unified Queer utopia.

Sincerely,
Damien

DONATIONS
Your donations are priceless. That being said, I do not believe in creating items of commerce for sale in return for donations. You will not find any t-shirts or tote bags here. The world can do with less stuff. But ideas reaching fruition are few and far between. Instead of gaining an "item" in return you receive the films you help create and inform through your donation; this is what I can give a patron in return. (When a film is officially released the patron will receive a digital packet including an .mp4 of the film, supporting materials, e.g. digital booklet comprising information on each project, or etc.)

MONTHLY SUPPORT
Monthly support is much appreciated as it allows me to take on less external work and focus on my primary film and video projects which also supports faster turn around to view the completed work you support.

LUST FOR LIFE

In order to complete this I need a re-dub of the audio dialogue track. To do this I wish to pay the actors for their time, thus far, and the final audio dub (Their dedication has been stedfast and deserves monetary recognition which will help them out greatly in their own creative/artistic pursuits); to date the actors and crew have donated their talents with no monetary compensation.

Once the final edit is completed Lust For Life will be screened publicly with the first screening reserved for a major theater in Mexico City. If we reach this goal we can make it so that not only do the actors get paid but the audience also gets to view the film for free, as we will pay to rent the theater and cover ticket costs. I don't so much care if anything is left for me, money wise, my main priority are the people involved and creating a quality film/experience for everyone to see.
