Hi! My name is gg. I make stories with drawings. Most of them are about feelings. Most of them are about sad feelings. Some of the things I’ve made include: my graphic novel, I’m Not Here, published by Koyama Press; my self-published mini-comics which are available to read on my website, ohgigue.com; my cover illustrations for books such as Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi and Sad Girls by Lang Leav. Or maybe you just know me from my instagram or another internet place.

Starting in January 2019, I’ll be using Patreon as a weekday diary for my sketches/work-in-progress, short comics experiments, thoughts about process/materials, and general research for current/future projects. I’m hoping that having a Monday to Friday schedule will help me do more of what I love – making stuff. I’ve found that no matter how much I love doing anything, the ever-present spectres of procrastination and depression are constantly working to make me feel bad and keep me from doing even good things for myself. So, sometimes I need to give myself a little structure to get around those obstacles.

If this sounds like something you’d like to follow along with, I hope you’ll consider becoming a patron to help me afford the time to focus more on making good things. Or maybe you’d just like to support my overall creative practice in general. I’m eternally grateful to anyone who enjoys my work and wants to see it go further! I’m pretty accustomed to the low-pay/no-pay life of independent comics and I’m lucky enough to have occasional freelance illustration work to help me get by but it’s also nice to be able to buy a few extra pencils or eat a balanced meal once in a while, you know?

For a dollar a month, you’ll see a warm-up sketch post every week (on a random day) and have my thanks. For three dollars a month or more, you’ll see everything I post on here, every weekday (barring unforeseen circumstances), and, um, my triple thanks. And for eleven dollars a month, you’ll see all the posts, receive even more thanks from my heart, and I will be re-releasing and mailing to you four redrawn/reformatted/reprinted/remastered comics in each quarter of the year:

March – Don’t Leave Me Alone
June – I’m Crazy (first time printing!)
September – Unattainable
December – A Mysterious Process

(For these releases, you only need to be a $11 patron during the month of the release if you want the books but can’t afford eleven dollars all year round! This way, you can also pick and choose if you only want a certain book but not the others. I’ll probably post a reminder to adjust pledge levels shortly before each of these months.)

These reprints are sort of a test run. And some of the process posts will talk about how it is going. If this year goes well and this becomes a sustainable thing for me to do, then maybe I can continue publishing new print comics this way. You can help me make it happen!

Again, I am super grateful for all your support and that you took the time to look at this. I know not everyone is in a position to contribute and that is totally fine. A bit of this content will occasionally filter down to my social media accounts so please follow me in these places if you’d like!
