Hi! I'm Carling. I'm queer, mentally ill (schizoaffective, bipolar type, anxiety), and disabled. Working "normal" jobs has historically had extremely negative consequences for me, so I'm trying my hand at working for myself (and you, darling friend!). By supporting my Patreon, you're helping me live on my own terms and avoid pushing myself way past my limits to keep up with a "normal" job and ending up in a mental hospital (again). You'll also get to read things I only post for patrons and get discounts on stuff I sell on carlingmars.com.

I wrote a book! feeling things in public places: essays on growth (of a person and an illness) is coming out very very soon from Eliezer Tristan Publishing.

You can find me on the internet @ohmycarling (insta and twitter), Facebookgoodreadscarlingmars.com, or [legacy] thisismainlytv.com.

I write (weird) poetry, fiction, and essays, often with heavy themes of mental illness and disability, with supernatural elements. I used to do a lot of TV and movie analysis, reviews, and recaps. I did a whole series of recaps and live blogs about The Secret Life of the American Teenager: a truly terrible show that I watched many seasons of to satisfy the needs of my readership. I've also been writing book reviews for Lambda Literary.

$73 of $100 per month
When I hit $100/month, I'll use a random number generator to pick someone to receive a copy of Week/End by my good friend Sarah Duncan. It's a poetic journey through a breakup, and it's haunting in the best way.
