"Onchenda" is phonetic Mandarin for "safe" or “secure” (adj. 安全, pinyin Ānquán de). Onchenda Global Food Co-op is a start-up social enterprise with the goal of ending world hunger and poverty by empowering local farmers, urban/suburban and rural families, edible horticulturalists, and anyone else interested in growing/raising their own food and selling the surplus through local online farmers' markets.

"Empowering" means providing, via the Internet, a comprehensive landscape design for any piece of non-toxic land; a sequential and phased prescription for restoration of ecosystem services on that land; a detailed sourcing list of seeds, plants, livestock, materials, and equipment; and, for would-be growers, funding and mentoring for implementation. Onchenda’s objective is to solve or mitigate food safety & security, rural unemployment, land use & reclamation, atmospheric pollution, resource warfare, etc. through the cross-disciplinary arts of social enterprise, edible landscape design, graphic information systems mapping, natural systems integration, clean energy generation, and other regenerative technologies and methodologies.

Far more than something beautiful to look at, listen to or play with, Onchenda is living, functional art that regenerates life at the microcosm and the macrocosm for all life forms.
