On Our Own Authority! Publishing (OooA!) is a volunteer-run autonomous research press based in Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 2012. Specializing in anarchist and radical literature, we publish intellectual history, social movement history, and studies of global political thought emphasizing themes of anti-colonialism, direct democracy, and workers’ self-management.

For us, publishing is a calling and we are passionate about every book that we've helped create. Since our founding, we've published fifteen books and have organized dozens of public events and community conversations in multiple cities. In doing so, we've helped to create spaces where communities can engage with revolutionary ideas and movements from around the world and across history.

In our catalog, you'll find studies of queer experience, global labor movements, African American history, Asian history, Caribbean history, European history, anarchism, Pan-Africanism, and Palestinian solidarity movements. We feature writings from such revolutionary authors as Ida B. Wells, Eusi Kwayana, Modibo Kadalie, and Emma Goldman, among many others. (See our full catalog at oooabooks.org)

We also do our best to maintain a presence at radical book fairs across North America, including cities like Atlanta, New York, Montreal, San Francisco, Asheville, Philidelphia, and New Orleans.

We have several new (and very exciting) titles planned for 2019 and 2020, but we will depend on you to help us reach our publishing goals. As an all-volunteer publishing house, we do not get paid for our work. We also receive no grants for this work; we started this project out of our own pockets. We do, however, have some pretty high costs, especially printing costs. Further, we always do our best to pay fair royalties to our authors for their work. All of the revenue generated from book sales goes directly into keeping these important books in print, producing new titles, hosting events, and paying out royalties.

Just like public radio or any grassroots organization, we need financial support from the public in order to maintain and continue our work. We hope that you'll consider supporting our efforts! Thank you!
