Hi, I’m Kariss, and welcome to my Patreon page.
If you’re reading this you are probably familiar with the web comic Orbit: encounter of which I am the creator, writer, and artist, and this is its Patreon page. At the moment I am a part-time self-employed artist, part-time admin staff at an accountancy firm, this is so that I can pay bill. I dedicate most of my spare time to producing Orbit: encounter, which has been live since 2014. I would love to be able put more time into this project, but at present this is very hard for me to manage, with only having about a dozen hours a week to put into this high-quality web comic - still this hasn’t stopped me yet!

I have always been enthusiastic about creating art and stories, and this is the first comic story of mine that I’ve written that to me feels both strong and well developed enough to be published online. And I hope that with your support I will be able to devote more time into this project, which will help me realize my dream of getting this to print.

In case you didn’t know: Orbit: encounter is to be a three-volume comic that draws inspirations from my love of sci-fi horrors such as Alien (1 & 2 specifically), Event Horizon, and John Carpenter’s The Thing; and my childhood classics such as Watership down, The Secret of Nymn, Once Upon a Forest, and The Dark Crystal; as well as incorporating experiences which I have both fortunately and unfortunately had, to bring to you a heart-warming but at time heart-wrenching sci-fi survival horror-thriller. I also am heavily influenced by my love for survival horror games, most notably Silent Hill, The Last of Us, Alien: Isolation, F.E.A.R, and also Slender Man (which to this day I’m still too terrified to complete). I hope these influences shine through my work and are executed well in this medium.

This Patreon is for people to support the production of Orbit: encounter and I hope to post here frequently, but I don’t want it to overwhelm my time dedicated to Orbit: encounter. That said, I will endeavour to complete all rewards that are due.
