When I came out, I didn't know where to turn.
Growing up Catholic and coming out as gay was a contradiction to say the least. But as I meet more people, I keep finding that resources honoring LGBTQIA+ spirituality are hard to come by. I started a podcast called "Out Loud: LGBT Stories of Faith," a year ago to ask folks how they make it work, and the voices I've heard have been so encouraging. By becoming a patron, you can help continue a hope-filled conversation on LGBTQIA+ spirituality both online and here in Nashville.

Goal #1: Let's start season two.
Between studio reservations, interview prep, and editing episodes, production of the show takes time, and as of now that's a solo production by me. Your donations help support my time and effort making the show this season.

Goal #2: Let's make this show all year!
For this show to be a real resource to folks, it needs to be reliable. I already have a short list of 25+  people across faith traditions and across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum that I've met right here in Nashville. That alone will get us through a solid year of inspiring interviews.

Goal #3: Let's make this a ministry.
The podcast is only the beginning. What would it look like to use to share someone's story as a resource in your community? I want to start that here in Nashville to create affirming spaces for the discussion of LGBTQIA+ spirituality.

Next steps include:
- Building a resource guide for sharing and discussing podcast episodes in your communities, gay or straight, affirming or un-affirming.
- Hosting workshops to help people tell their queer story of faith.
- Offering retreat spaces for building LGBTQIA+ community.

And that's just the beginning.

Knowing you belong saves lives.
Two big takeaways from my interviews so far have been...
1. We're all searching: Maybe it's a church, or a broader community, or just for the sigh of relief that comes with knowing you belong.
2. We all need each other: My journey is only one variation on so many others who come out within a faith community, and we have so much more to learn from each other.

I want to keep offering resources to LGBTQIA+ folks free of charge, so that this work reaches as many people as possible. Podcasts have the ability to reach far and wide... to the boy in the closet who lives in a city that doesn't have an active LGBT outreach center, or to a girl who comes out and lives where there aren't any affirming churches, or to woman who's transitioned and lost her entire community. Hearing a story that resonates with your own inspires hope.

This show is about making our voices heard, owning our stories, and relying on each other. By becoming a patron, you help our stories reach one another, and keep hope alive. Thank you!
