Hello there!

And thanks for checking out my Patreon page!

My name is Elise, and I am passionately obsessed with creating stories!
I also love to draw and write, or combining the two and make comics.

My "SPIKE" project has been my top priority since 2005. It's a massive and tedious project yet that is part of what makes it so interesting for me to work on.
Briefly explained, the "SPIKE" project is basically the same story told in different mediums: it was originally intended to be a graphic novel, but when I began writing the script I realized I wanted to write it as a novel too. So now it's gonna be both!
Here's a quick synopsis:

"SPIKE" follows the story of the titular main character, Spike Shaffer, and his best friend Sam Saunders.
Spike and Sam have known each other for years, but they're both carrying heavy secrets they have not yet dared sharing with one another. In contrast to Sam's seemingly idyllic life, Spike's life is pure hell; he is being fostered by his uncle, Charles, who in addition to beating Spike on a daily basis is also regularly molesting him. Spike's tense and fearful view on affection and physical contact mixed with Sam's obliviousness to Spike's home situation has the two boys' friendship put harshly to the test when Sam one day reveals his secret; that he is in love with Spike.

Despite the story's heavier themes, its varied and wide cast of characters helps provide a refreshing balance, complete with silly humor and dorky shenanighans

If you're curious about reading parts of the old first draft and check out some artwork from the project, take a look here:

I will release content as often as I can, which can be all from twice a month to twice a day. But no matter how many updates I make I only charge per month.

Supporting me on Patreon will help me tremendously with reaching my goals:
Supportive words are a huge boost in itself, and the knowledge that someone is willing to donate money to further support my creations encourage me to stay even more committed to my project, as my way of trying to prove to you that your donations were worth it.
Unlike Kickstarter, on Patreon you pledge a small recurring amount instead of a one time donation. You can set a monthly max for yourself too so you never go over budget. Pledge whichever amount you are comfortable with, every dollar helps a whole lot and I am very grateful for your support!

My fans and supporters mean a lot to me, and interacting with you all is also a nice way for me to give something back and show my appreciation of you all as well. Therefore I will try to do monthly streams, which can be either art-and-chat livestreams, or Q&A webchats and tutorials even. These are usually free to access for everyone, patrons or not, but as a patron you will get noted in advance on when it's scheduled to be, as well as the non-scheduled streams and you'll get invites to exclusive Patreon-streams/chats. You will also get the first peak of new artwork before I upload them to DeviantART, in addition to bonus material, work in progress art, sketches and more that may or may not be posted on deviantART at all.
I am also definitely open for suggestions on what you would like to see in the updates. Your opinion matters! :-)
In the All Posts feed, people can post fan art, get to know other patrons, and leave comments. In the Patreons Only feed, you get access to all the exclusive, monthly goodies as a reward for your pledge.

Every pledge helps, no matter how big or small you feel it is, it helps A LOT! <3

Tiers
Pledge $1 or more per month
Every dollar helps, so thank you so much for your help! <3

I also want to avoid excluding people, and since I'm personally against the "the more money you have the more benefits you have" morality, this pledge gives you access to the Patreons only feed, backstage/behind the scenes material and mostly everything else!

Pledge one dollar or which ever amount you feel comfortable with. You have my heartfelt thanks either way <3

Your rewards are:

  • Access to the Patreons Only feed
  • Early invitations to interactive livestream sessions
  • Extra bonus material like "deleted scenes" comics, sneak peaks, previously unshown sketches/concept art, and other behind the scenes goodies
  • Early releases of artwork, sketches, mini comics, comic pages, tutorials and whatnot
  • Regular updates on the process of my projects
Goals
55% complete
With this goal reached I will host interactive, live art classes. Like, livestreams where I teach art through drawing and explaining and answer your questions which you can ask via the stream chat, you know?
I have worked as an art teacher before and I miss it dearly. I have been asked to tutor via the internet before but have been much too camera shy to do so. I'm still camera-shy, but I've gotten somewhat more comfortable with voice chats, and since my face is irrelevant either way when teaching art it seems like a nice option to stream the screen and just explain what I'm doing.

Topics can be pre-decided/voted on/suggested etc by you guys. That gives me time to prepare or refreshen some rusty skills of mine if needed ;)
I will also adjust my classes to the skill levels of the viewers. By that I mean that I don't want anyone to feel like they're "not good enough" to join, because I firmly believe that everyone can draw as it is a learned skill same as anything else. I can't skate worth shit but that's not gonna stop me from learning how to skate, and if I bother to put enough time and effort into it I could probably be a pretty good skater eventually. Know what I mean?
If you want to be better at art and you're willing to do the hard work it requires, then you will be better at art.
The cool thing about art is that it is impossible to get worse at it the more of it you do ;)

Seriously though:
Livestream art classes, for all people of any kind and of any "skill level". Only requirement to show up - aside from an internet connection I guess lol - is that you have at least some interest in drawing, or that you have at some point in your life acknowledged the existence of pencils. Alternatively crayons.
"I can't draw but I like art" Cool beans! Join in!
"I can't draw but I would like to learn" You've come to the right place my friend!
"I would like to improve my art" same bro, let's improve together!
"I'm just here for inspiration and to meet other fellow aspiring artists" Brilliant! Meeting other creative people or even drawing alongside the stream without even paying attention to the stream can be a huge motivational and inspirational boost. Being an artist can be very lonely, so hopefully these social streams can be a nice social and creative input :)
Also, you are not only allowed to draw in my classes, you are greatly encouraged to XD Bring your sketchbook, pay attention if you want to, or just doodle your own stuff. Mute the stream or take notes, it's all up to you :)
"I am a professional artist" Well done! This may not be that educational for you then, but it's always nice to go back and grind the basics, yeah? If anything you'll meet other creative souls in the chat, and if you have any feedback or input or corrections even to give me while I teach then that is encouraged as well. I am sharing what I know, meaning that there's still a ton of shit I don't know. Yet ;) I'll be learning a lot from these streams too. Win-win, right? :)

It's all about growing as artists and having fun while doing it ^__ ^ I'm willing to bet that all of us continued to draw or wanted to learn to draw because there was something about drawing that we enjoyed.
Sometimes it's more work than fun, but when art seems unforgiving and overwhelming, take a step back and remember why you started drawing in the first place.
I want these classes to be fun and encouraging, and I'll give it my best effort to make it educational as well :)

I'm also a fan of somewhat untraditional teaching methods, meaning I don't want you to have to adapt to the way I teach, rather the other way around: I want to hear what you guys want to learn about, and together with you figure out how to best teach what I know and pass it on to you in a way that is comprehensible, interesting and fun. And I want the classes to be a creative environment where we can all learn something. Like I mentioned, I am far from perfect, I still have a ton to learn, and I am welcoming constructive critique, suggestions or even switching tables, like, it's okay for you guys to say "Oomz, you're doing it wrong, here's how these things are done.." etc.. Heck, if I do something wrong I want you to tell me so that I can learn to do it right. That in turn will be something everyone in that stream will learn, and we'll all learn it together.
So while I'm the one doing the art class streams, I am still fully open to the idea that we can all be both teachers and students :)

Streams will be free of course, as this goal will basically be my "salary" ;)
Might host a few "prototype" sessions before this goal is reached too just to get used to it myself and to see how you guys would like these interactive art classes. But with the goal reached we can do it more structured and as a regular thing - scheduling it even, which I have been crap at this far with my random art streams, but with classes where the topic is pre-decided, scheduling them will be beneficial for all of us I think.

Fingers crossed that we'll reach this goal soon, cause I'm already excited for it :D

Footnote:
There's no age limit, but "parental discretion is advised" I guess? Enter at your own risk, you know? Reasons are:

- I curse. A whole fucking lot.

- I am guessing anatomy will be a frequent topic, so there will be some artistic nudity.

- Occasionally there might be blood and gore themes I guess. Didn't like dissecting a frog back in school? Good, you have a strong sense of empathy. But if you're also sensitive to more graphic topics, that probably means you should pay attention to the trigger warnings - which I'll try to remember to post before each class.

- There is no "mature content filter" on the streams, but the topic of each class will be announced prior to when the classes are in session ;)

- Chances are the SPiKE story will be either asked about or used as an example, and given the nature of said story I'm guessing the classes hold a potentially perpetual trigger warning regarding the same topics the SPiKE story addresses.

- Violence might also be a topic I guess. I'm adjusting these classes based on what people want to learn how to draw, so if "how to draw fights" is voted on then that's what that particular class will focus on.

- Again; pay attention to the class announcements. They'll describe what the current topic will be, so you can decide for yourself whether you feel like joining that time or not.

- Usually though, it's probably just the swearing and anatomy that's a sort of continuous "issue".

- Also, if you're a kid just, you know, be careful on the internet in general. I mean, there are lots of nice people on the internet, but there are most likely twice as many people you'd be safer off avoiding. Remember that everyone is a stranger on the internet, anyone can be potential liars. Just show general caution, and preferably include your parents or have an adult you trust nearby to back you up and stuff. And never ever give your personal information to strangers. It's the web equivalent to jumping into the car of some creep who offers you free candy or claims to have kittens to show you. Just don't. "The cake is a lie" etc ;)
If you're a kid and you want to watch these art classes, tell your parents about them, show them the schedule and announced topics and preferably have them watch it with you.

Other than that, there's no age requirement I guess. Just know yourself and what you are/aren't okay with and follow your gut you know? Common sense and all that :)
