Summary
Hi readers, Parka here. :-)
I've been blogging since 2007 and reviewed thousands of art books and art products. Many think I get free books to review but that's a common misconception as most items reviewed on the blog are actually bought. It's expensive running the website. I hope with your support on Patreon, I can work on ParkaBlogs full-time.
The long story is below...
What is Patreon?
Patreon is like an ongoing Kickstarter campaign. It's a crowd funding website with a subscription model. Basically, you can support me by pledging some money each month.
Background
I've been reviewing art books and products since 2007. To prevent conflict of interest, most items (90%) featured on my blog are purchased with my own money. To save money, I borrow a lot of books to review also. Most purchased books are then sold off to get back the money, donated to libraries or as prizes to art events.
As an artist myself, I enjoy helping other artists. I know artists spend a lot of time and effort to make a living. That's why I don't solicit free products to review.

I also help artists promote their self-published art books at no cost.
Why I'm on Patreon
I need your support with two things.
First is to help me offset part of the expense to running the blog.
The second is to help fulfill my dream of working on ParkaBlogs full-time. Currently, I spend 4-5hrs daily on ParkaBlogs, that's on top of my 9hr/day full-time job. I want devote more time to personal art projects and also expand the content of ParkaBlogs.
Benefits for your support
1. For $5 backers and above, you'll get all the travelogue ebooks I plan on releasing in the future (at least four by end of 2016). You can already preview the travel sketches on my blog. I will put additional travel and sketching tips in those ebooks. For every $200/month milestone I hit, I will distribute one ebook free to all my patrons.
2. First ten supporters who reach a lifetime donation of $100 will win one copy of The Perfect Sketchbook (3.5 by 5.5 inch cotton watercolour sketchbook). I'll come up with more tangible rewards in the future.

3. You will help the many artists indirectly whose art books and products I feature.
4. You will get to see more variety of art product reviews. I want to hire other artists to review art materials because it's very time consuming for me to do it all alone, and I'm not expert with all materials.
5. Some funds will go towards translating reviews into other languages.
6. You'll continue to see 10-20 reviews of interesting books every month. That has been my work rate for the last five years.
How to support ParkaBlogs
You can pledge whatever amount you're comfortable with. It's that simple
Every bit adds up and moves me closer to my dream. :-)
Why back for something you can already get for free?
The content is free for you on my website, and always will be. But they are not free for me as I spend time and money to create them.
I hope the 1200+ reviews published in the past have helped you.
Now I need your help.
