Always Wandering (June creation #2)

NOTE: best listened to with headphones :). Hi nateives!!!! I've written another song! Honestly, been having so much fun with this one over the last few days. Also been fighting with some of the lyrics, so so much. Still not 100% sure it's the final piece...but it's definitely close enough to share with all of you beautiful people! This song came of its own accord...it's simply about the journeying we're all going through in this life. Life is in the experience of the journey, the destination is the least important part of it all. So, anyway, I was imagining an eagle flying high watching all these people wandering around. The eagle gets the big picture and can make observations based on that. Haha, oh my strange mind :D. I hope you enjoy this creation! The download link will soon be up for all Fresh Green Nateives and higher, so watch out for that one :). Hugs all around, thanks so much for all the assistance with choosing a title and an image to go with the song, yay! I took the photo on my dad's old film camera, a pentax k1000, while I was travelling in California a few years ago. This is a farm I spent a few months living in a tent on, helping out with harvesting veggies, reading, climbing trees, having deep conversations and swimming in the river. Happy days, I can't wait to go back! Love to you all! Nate LYRICS: Way down there See you walking in the woods Always wandering Searching for a place To rest your head My head's full of locations I imagine you have lain I'm always wandering Seeking for the signs I know you've seen What they mean... Seek and you shall find Life happens in its own time Seek and you shall find You know and I know So seek and you shall find Love happens in its own time Seek and you shall find You are always wandering I've seen some Imprisoned by old secrets They were keeping Blind to both the night and to the day What a shame Seek and you shall find Life happens in its own time Seek and you shall find You know and I know So seek and you shall find Love happens in its own time Seek and you shall find You are always wandering You who walk with courage Through the darkness and the light Always wandering Searching with a smile upon your face Life's embrace Seek and you shall find Life happens in its own time Seek and you shall find You know and I know So seek and you shall find Love happens in its own time Seek and you shall find You are always wandering

July Creation: Cover of 'Falling Slowly' by Glen Hansard

Dear friends As you know I broke my hand recently (good news it's healing well and I should be playing again in a few months), so it's kinda hard for me to write any new music at the moment! I decided on this video as this month's creation as it is one of the most special moments I've experienced in my musical life. Just before I broke my hand I began singing with my new friend Yana and a lovely person recorded us singing at this show. When we sing together it feels like puzzle pieces falling into place, like the calm after the storm, like waking up on my birthday morning, like cuddling in front of a fire when the rain is pounding the roof. Haha, ok, enough rambling, but she's a great friend and I'm honoured to sing with her is what I'm trying to say. Hope it's ok that I share this as this month's creation, and knowing you all as I do I'm sure you're gonna love it :) Big big biiiiiiiig hugs to all of you beautiful people. Love Nate PS: Please share this with all your friends on twitter, facebook, etc by clicking the share buttons :).

August's Patron-funded Creation is a Poem :)

Elena fairly pointed out that I promised you all a poem while I can't play guitar and so, here is a poem I began some time ago and finished just moments ago. I hope it resonates with you, it's not a medium I'm used to and I have noooooo theory knowledge at all about how poems are meant to be structured, heh :). Enjoy, big hugs N PS: the photo I took while camping in the woods on an island in Canada in 2012. For some reason it felt like it fitted. The Gentle Ones: We learned to speak With broken tongues Until they formed Dancing shovels Our words dug deep Into history and memory Finding long forgotten Scattered shadow seeds We dug and dug and dug 'til dark saw light And the fight Became the flowerbed We watered with our Simple precious words Now we sing In holy disarray In the woods Our tongues grew Savour these fruits 'til skin splits ’twixt lips Built for serenading time And keep singing Because singing Is also called Love

Beatrice Luna Oh my. This makes me feel deeply, both poem and picture. The picture makes me homesick, wishing to be amongst the trees, the streams, and the wildlife, which is where I feel most alive. The poem conveyed emotion, it seemed to just hit home for me.

We reached 60 patrons, plus NEW video up!

As of yesterday afternoon, there are 60 of you from all over the world who are signed up as my patrons. 6 months ago I would never have imagined that something as incredible as this would happen in my life. You inspire me on a daily basis to continue living my truth, walking my talk and 'being the change I wish to see in the world'. "If we choose to value art we are choosing to value the story of humanity." I was out to dinner with a friend last night and at one point was speaking passionately about the revolution of community-funded art and patronage. I spoke the quote you read above and felt so deeply the truth in it. Art is what defines us, tells us the stories of what it means to be human. Thank you for believing in this with me! Here's a numerology extract about 60: "The number 60 is the 'Mother' number and is essentially a working, building number. It symbolises responsibility and service, which needs to be achieved through love, nurturing and protection. Through life experiences gained through long cycles of evolution, the innate perfection of the number 60 comes forth into manifestation. The concept of ‘To Let Go and Let God’ will help the gentle number 60 Destiny person to hear their inner voice of wisdom." So there you have it, we have arrived at this beautiful number together and I am so very excited to see what the future is going to bring us :) PLUS: here is a new style of video -for me- which I'm very excited to share with you. It's called a 'lyric video' and is basically just a way to showcase lyrics to a song in a way that looks kinda pretty. This is my first attempt and feedback has been positive so far, I hope you enjoy it :). That's all from me for now, plenty more lovely things to come soon soon! I frickin' love y'all hugs and high fives Nate

I guess shadows are quick to leap out infront of us when we least expect, no matter how hard we try to ignore our past. We rush through life in hope of having enough distraction from our demons. Looking forward to the next one:) Big thumbs up from me! Warm hugs X

Happy September! Here's creation #1 for this month!

Ok, I admit, I was so excited about this that I recorded it and put it up as a private youtube video a few days ago already;). Twa Corbies is is a medieval Scottish song which I've loved for many years, ever since a teacher at high school taught it to us on a hiking trip. We huddled around the camp-fire in the cool dark night, watching the flames dance on the breeze and singing harmonies to the stars. The song's content is pretty dark but I love it:D. it's about two crows discussing what to eat. One says to the other that he saw a knight who'd been killed recently and no one knew he was there. They talk about which bits they'll devour and how the wind will blow across the knight's bare bones for all time when they're done. It's sad, poetic and strangely romantic all at the same time. At least, I think so, but then I've always been attracted to the shadows as well as the light :). I recorded this in one take (hence the off-key mistakes) in a tall fire-escape stairwell in London, which gave it a lovely natural echo. I hope you enjoy and if you do then please like, comment and share:D. Thank you all for being my patrons, the fact that you choose to value my art in this way mean the world to me, both practically (paying rent and food) and emotionally (reminding me that what I do has inherent value and brings people joy and light), so THANK YOU! Warm magical hugs Nate PS: there's a new upvoting and downvoting comment section here on Patreon, so feel free to upvote the comments you love (no-one says mean things on my wall, so we don't need down-votes, yay) PPS: there will be a downloadable version of this coming up for all $5 and up patrons, so watch out for that one soon soon :)

J Nate, this is just simply beautiful. Easily in my top 3 of your creations on Patreon thus far. The acoustics of the stairwell allow your tone to resonate with just the right balance. Most of your songs are very clearly written from a first-person perspective and I love the vulnerability of that. This though, this was like watching an actor take on a character that is so far from their persona but still deliver the role in such a believable way. I'm waiting in anticipation for the download, my friend. Much love!

September Creation #2: A Water Poem

The rain tells me everything I'm entranced, because Every raindrop is a traveller And a storyteller Ripples hypnotize me As they intersect, I find Galaxies, like lovers, Intertwined I float upon rivers On their banks, I meet Wise men Born of wise women Blood drives, in rhythmic Curving highways My flesh is paved My heart is a station Water, liquid Goddess, rising Fountain Surrendering mountain The rain tells me everything I'm listening NOTE FROM NATE: Happy being alive day my friends! I hope you enjoy this month's second creation. I've been working on this poem for a while now, wandering the street of London and thinking about the incredible beauty and surrender inherent in water. Water flows yet washes away mountains. It holds so many mysteries and one of its strengths is its ability to become the shape of whatever vessel it sits in. Water is a teacher :). Anyway, this poem came about and I'm happy to share it with you. The photo is from my home village Scarborough. Just this month my dad sold our family home, which he and my mom built. It was time to move on and I celebrate his liberation, but there is also deep sadness that the house of all my memories is no longer available as an anchor, or root, in this world. So, the end comes for all things eventually. This too shall pass :). I dedicate this song to the beauty of my village, which shaped so much of what I create now as an artist and who I am as an individual. WELCOME to the new patrons, thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in me enough to CHOOSE to support what I'm doing. You could get this all for free, and the fact that you value my art enough to pledge is a miracle I am grateful for every single day. I frickin' LOVE YA! If you enjoy this creation, please feel free to use the sharing buttons to tell your friends, family and lovers about it. As always, you get this 24 hours before anyone else, so enjoy the sneak preview :) Love to you all Magical hugs Nate PS: I'm heading to LA today, then Santa Cruz on Monday! Elena Petriconi I always enjoy your poems. You have a unique way of capturing the beauty in the ordinary. This poem is especially lovely. Living in Scotland, it's easy to overlook the importance and beauty of water as it basically rains here 360 days out of the year! I love the line "Every raindrop is a traveller and a storyteller", and how you've humanised it- it's gone through a tremendous journey, changing the landscape as it goes along, just like people (we change through the people that come in and out of our lives). Rain has it's own cycle, like the cycle of life, and all that wouldn't be possible without water, the essence of life. Thank you for reminding me to appreciate it! Beautiful photo! Sad to hear about your childhood home having to be sold:( The same shall be happening to me soon, so I know how you feel. I guess we have to go along with the rhythm of life, change is inevitable.

A new song and video, creation #1 for October!

Hi lovely Nateives! I am in the process of writing a new song. It's basically done, but will grow and mature with time I'm sure. Thanks so much to 'Fully Grown Nateive' Jen Butler for the name 'Beyond The Reach', I love it!! I'm in North California now. Having a beautiful time but also some big challenges. My old back issues have been flaring up, which means I'm in a lot of pain and it's affecting my enjoyment of my days. Feeling unsure of where I should be or what I should be doing. Time will tell. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for your support. Some of you have been with me for six straight months now, this is incredible! I'm thinking of special things to offer those of you who stick around for such long periods, cos you make my heart sing so loud it hurts sometimes :D. Wishing you all the magic you deserve Warm hugs Nate PS: you're getting to hear this 24 hours before I share it anywhere else...but feel free to click like and share on twitter, facebook, etc :)
