It seems cliche but knowledge is power! With access to the right kind of information any artist can use that information to change their condition. There are sites charging over $1400 for courses that teach artists how to market and promote their music online. This restricts information to artists that can afford to spend $1400 and leaves everyone that can’t to figure it out on their own. I want to help all artists succeed, no matter their financial position by providing important information for free or, at the very least, extremely low costs like I’ve done with my series of dollar books.

Why I Need Your Support

Time is money and what you don’t pay for in money you pay for in time. Researching topics, writing articles and e-Books, recording and editing videos takes an enormous amount of time. I’d like to provide more information but simply can’t afford to invest the time or money for the equipment upgrades it would take to do so. Your support would enable me to increase the quality and quantity of information I can provide, to further and more effectively assist in your growth and success as artists.

What I'd Like to Do

I would like to write more free and low cost e-Books that inform you of how to do things like advertise on Youtube and social media as well as read and understand Analytics. I’m looking to create more online courses and instructional videos that explain in detail how to use various tools and services. I’d like to upgrade some of my equipment like getting a better microphone and increased computer RAM for processing video productions.

My dream for Payusnomind is for it to be the artist manager that you don’t have to pay 15%. Your support will help us get there. As a thank you for your support you receive exclusive perks unavailable to the general public which you can view below.

About Me

As an artist my dream was to be able to support myself as an artist. I didn’t want to work a full time job and only make music when I wasn’t too exhausted from working my job. I particularly loathed the 2pm-10pm schedule where I had to be at work too early to really do anything in the morning and got off too late to really do anything at night. My store would close at 10pm, we’d have to breakdown and clean then wait online to punch out. After punching out it was the walk to the train-station, the wait for the train, and the ride home. Once home I had to shower and change and take another walk back to the train-station to wait for another train and take another ride to the venue.

When I made it to open mics the lists were already full. When I made it to showcases I often missed my time slot. All I wanted to do was be able to support myself as an artist which required me to do three things:

  1. Get heard
  2. Get Fans
  3. Get Fans to support

Where things got complicated was in figuring out how. There were a ton of websites promoting themselves as a place I could get my music heard. They’d tell me to upload my music then ask me to send friends there to listen. Digital distributors were charging me to sell my music and providing me with tools to sell my music to none existent buyers. Blogs and radio stations had submission pages that sold “promo packages” that charged for features and airplay.

The sites that wanted me to upload my music didn’t bring anyone to listen. The digital distributors didn’t bring anyone to buy. Most of the blogs and radio stations charging for features and airplay didn’t have any readers or listeners. How was I to know? All I had to go on was my gut feelings because there were no Yelp reviews for sites like Reverbnation. Other artists were reluctant to talk about their experiences paying for features and airplay because they didn’t want anyone to know.

When I’d watch interviews with celebrity artists they’d ask them questions like “what advice would you give to other artists just starting out?” and they’d always give generic answers like “work hard” and “never give up”. They never really dove into the details of what artists had to do to be successful and I found that extremely frustrating.

When I created Payusnomind with my good friend Conscious, my goal was to provide artists with the information that I found it hard to find. Information they really could use to get where they were trying to go; informing them of the best websites and tools and how to use those tools to achieve their goals, reviews of digital distributors so they could make well informed decisions on which one was worth their money. Inspiring them to think deeper by introducing them to analytics and the nuances of marketing and advertising online.
