PDX TEA provides a refuge from The Digitization Of Everything.

  • We work in the real world to educate you about the teas you love (production, history, historical & living tea cultures, aesthetic & philosophical underpinnings), as well as those you've never had the chance to try. (Our specialties are the teas and tea cultures of Fujian, Yunnan, Guangdong, and Taiwan.)

  • We create classes, tastings, and free community events (for example, our book group) in Portland, Oregon.

  • We serve, not as an end point, but as a bridge between non-native tea drinkers, and those who are part of tea cultures of origin.

  • We collaborate with other members of, and institutions in our tea community, like the wonderful Tea Fest PDX.

Thank you so much for supporting our efforts!

I am super excited about this reward! I've actually been hoping to find a way to make this happen since before Patreon existed...

Part of my tea selection process is accomplished through focussed, comparative tastings. In these tastings, I often brew several examples of the same kind of tea, looking for quality, value, and what you might call reference examples of the style.

I'm opening up this type of tasting to six Portland-area patrons who pledge $7.50 a month.

As with my classes, I'll talk you through what we're tasting, where it's from, how it's made, and how it fits in to the bigger picture of tea. And, perhaps more importantly, we'll talk about what makes quality tea quality tea.

*  The panel's monthly tasting time will be fixed based on the schedules of pledging patrons. If you occasionally can't make it to a month's tasting — or if, for some reason, we can't hold one — I'll mail you the samples and information that go out to the $12.00 tier.

** Teas used will generally not be for sale, and will occasionally be better than anything you could normally buy. :)

Tasting Panel
$7.50 or more per month 1 patrons (sold out!)

Simple Tea Club

Help us launch new programs, such as a distance-learning series, by joining the Simple Tea Club!

To thank you for your support, I'll send you a gift box every three months you pledge at this level. The box will include 3 tea samples to brew at home, along with information about their origins and history, how they're made, and their brewing preferences.
