Josie Michelle is creating a nicer world (tools: theory, philosophy, kindness)

Hello! THANK YOU SO MUCH for being here! I'm josie, and I'm trying to make a living doing the only thing I know how: building a kinder, nicer, more beautiful world. I combine writing, making, philosophy, and really terrible jokes in an effort to create and nurture sustainable love and joy and justice that’s rooted in and responsible to human and nonhuman world(s). You can find out more about what I do on my website, where I write a blog about love, justice, politics, theory, and how beautiful the world is. I'm also a contributing editor at New Socialist, and occasionally do art and music writing, and make zines. Here's a handy page with links to all my writing that's currently publicly accessible online!

As well as all this, I'm currently working on getting my MA thesis, Wilful Love, published, and have just embarked on a year-long experiential theory/practice project investigating the ways in which we might think and live beyond what Taraneh Fazeli has called "capital's temporal bullying". Other plans include collaborations with exciting people, printed matter, and maybe even venturing into ~video~. Here, I'll share regular articles & recommended reading lists, answer questions, & more! (I'd love to hear from you, too: how can I make this a reciprocal & generative exchange?)

I'm informed by the politics, poetics, and practices of decolonisation, ecologies, and interconnection, along with basically anything else that might offer us liberation from the white-European-Enlightenment-imperialist-capitalist-anthropocentric dogma that's slowly stifling us. I want to co-create, produce, and share knowledge that helps us in that process. I think philosophy is for everyone and want to radically demystify & democratise it. I’m also very very left wing & try to direct my work towards radical transformation and justice; this practice & process is, for me, what it means to be a revolutionary socialist.

Knowing that people value me and what I do to even the smallest extent would be so affirming and wonderful, but even if you aren't able to contribute financially, that's okay. Thank you so much for reading anyway, and I hope you will continue to enjoy my work <3

In love and solidarity,
josie
