Hi everyone! My name is Katie Underhay and I am co-artistic director of Mumblecrust Theatre (formerly Peafrog Puppetry). We create original family theatre for families with puppets, music and storytelling. We also occasionally make puppets for other people and run workshops for kids and adults.

In 2016 we created our first production, 'The Tale of the Cockatrice', and are now working on our second show - an adaptation of HG Wells' The Time Machine!

As a small theatre company, it is incredibly difficult to create the things we do because there are only two of us (myself and Anthony Burbridge) and funding is often scarce! We managed to create 'The Tale of the Cockatrice' with only the help of £430 from a Kickstarter campaign, which barely scratches the surface of what it really costs to produce professional theatre. We have so many exciting plans for other projects too and want to keep running workshops and making new puppets for people, but without any sort of subsidy this becomes pretty tough!

We've managed to struggle on so far though, and have achieved more than you might expect! We've just returned from Brighton Fringe where we managed to win two awards - Voice's Best Newcomer award and the IYAF: Best of Brighton Children and Families award - as well as 5* and 4* reviews.

If a few people can give a little bit every now and then, it'll really help us carry on making amazing theatre and give us more freedom to try riskier projects, and to do things that many people might benefit from but won't necessarily make us a lot of money...

So far we have used the money given to us on Patreon as "match funding" to apply to Arts Council England twice! The Arts Council need to see that you can find money in other places, not just from them, so having the support of our small but loyal following has so far helped us get two grants!!

So if anyone fancies becoming a Patron and help us keep doing what we're doing, that's awesome!
