My name is Phil McAndrew and I'm an illustrator, cartoonist and writer. I've been putting comics and drawings on the internet for roughly half my life. I mostly create short, funny comics, many of which were collected in my first book, Crying In Front Of Your Dog And Other Stories. I also contribute comics to MAD Magazine somewhat regularly and have worked on projects for Cartoon Network, Portlandia, Random House, BOOM! Studios and many others. I write about drawing and creativity from time to time and enjoy sharing creative tools like my Big List of Stuff To Draw. Most recently I drew a 24 page comic book that doubles as packaging for an upcoming 7" record by the bands Perfect Pussy and Joanna Gruesome.
With your support, I'll be able to continue creating comics, illustrations, stories, and jokes full-time. I love the challenge of working on freelance projects with clients, but the projects that I'm usually most excited about are my own little comics and drawings, which unfortunately often have to be set aside in order to work on things that will actually pay the bills. Your support will allow me to devote more time to projects of my own that can be shared online for free and will help relieve some of the financial stress and uncertainty that every person who draws pictures for a living experiences from time to time.
For those that aren't familiar with my work, here are some examples, some illustrations and some panels from my comics. All of these examples are from personal projects - exactly the sort of stuff that I'd like to be able to devote more time to working on and sharing with YOU for free on the internet.
